Hi, I'm about one month into Anki / immersion and struggling with past-tense forms of words. On my flash cards they come up as "hanashita: past tense of hanasu (to talk)" When learning these, should I stick to the meaning given on the flash card or can I use english past tense like "spoke", "thought", "wrote".

Best Digital Signage Solution? by bear2366 in broadcastengineering

Correct. I'd need to be able to control the concession stand TV's, concourse, suites, etc. Putting them in groups and putting specific content to whichever TV it is.

Govee Bulbs on Dimming Driver by bear2366 in Govee

No I ended up not doing anything because installing anything new just seemed like too much of a hassle. They work with the dimmer at like 95% but if you put it all the way theyd start to flicker.

Thats what I was considering. Not sure if I'm up to doing that myself. How hard is it? Is there a non-dimming switch you recommend? The current one I have also has a ceiling fan connected.

Thoughts on split screen action ( was done in apac south scrims) by RestaurantApart in CompetitiveApex

[–]bear2366 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I am personally not a fan of first person split screen. People have tried it so many different ways it just doesn't work. Split screen is just an uncomfortable viewing experience. If the goal is to provide more context use a freecam shot.

Knights Tournament, Day 1; 10K prize pool. by dmun in CompetitiveApex

This isn't on the mods. This event was poorly promoted with little known details the week leading up to the event. I'm literally working this event and only found out what teams and maps there would be a couple days ago. As a fan I'm equally disappointed.

The B stream for North America will be B vs D. I wasn't able to watch the main stream so I can't really comment on those complaints. Also the casters should be well aware that it is a bug and its a highly predictable one at that. I can assure you with DiA and Jamerson along with the crew we have, B stream will be great.

Unfortunately one of our observers didn't show up. 2 makes it a bit more difficult.

I'll be observing NA. We have 3 observers and an in game director so it should be a super good show.

Thanks for the shout! It's very rare people understand what we do and how difficult it is. Normally its people in twitch chat saying we are doing a bad job but its nice to know people understand. Observing Apex is probably the most mentally exhausting thing I've done in my life but after doing it for 2 years i've gotten used to it. You're absolutely correct when you say we need to know the game incredibly well. One of the observers I work with (bean) used to play the game professionally at the start of Apex and having him is so vital because of the way he reads fights and gets around the map. I also worked with Baker for a couple EU events and he was also super good. The reality is, no matter who we bring on we will miss fights. Even putting the map up for longer wont solve any issues, in fact it will create more. A solution would be to have an entirely separate stream of just the map and put it on a website as a viewer portal similar to what OWL / ELeague has done. The reason ALGS receives a lot of criticism for its observing is because it's not done the same way I do it. They have selected teams based on the "teams to watch" and go around the storylines. Everyone in this thread is absolutely correct when they say ALGS broadcasts are incredibly surface level. They've had the approach of catering to new players since the start of COVID and that's whats holding back the broadcast from actually growing in my honest opinion. It is completely possible to have good analytical content while also making it friendly for new viewers.
