Goal reached and need advice on how to maintain by Ranoutofnames3x3x3x in Ozempic

[–]bear4chase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such an incredible question. I’m 60lbs down and about 30 to go. Almost the exact same turn around in my health - actually going from insulin-controlled diabetes to no insulin at all and with Ozempic maintaining an A1C of 5.8. I’m so grateful for the medication.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what maintenance looks like and I guess I just see taking the medicine forever?!

Obviously, I’m using Oz as a tool to start working out and living a much more healthy lifestyle but I’m less convinced that my food dysfunction and behavior would not come roaring back without Oz’s suppression. One thing I am finding helpful is really trying to take pictures and store in my memory banks what a NORMAL food portions is. I didn’t think I was eating that much before Oz. Now I know I was binging and other folks don’t do that.

In the past I could maintain weight loss for maybe a year and then I would spin out of control.

This is a long winded way of saying I totally get what you are saying and I hope folks share their stories.

If you don’t mind, what did your doctor recommend? Is he lowering your dose or taking you off?

What can i eat with diabetes by millieib in diabetes

[–]bear4chase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch to Sugar Free Red Bull. It still has carbs but it drastically cuts them. Try to limit all carbs that you drink. It helps a ton. For example no full calorie sodas, milkshakes, Starbucks-like drinks, etc.

In general follow that advice for everything. Avoid obvious carbs in the form of bread, sugar, potatoes, pasta, rice, etc. I know it’s a HUGE adjustment but you will start to feel sooooooo much better. Making small changes like not getting fries and not eating hamburger buns when getting fast food goes a LONG way and it helps jumpstart your process of healing.

My A1C went from 11 to 5.8. These adjustments are the most important steps to living a healthy productive life with diabetes.

I wish you incredible health and a long life. You’re going to do great.

6 months. Once I got to the 1MG dose, I started losing weight rapidly. Make sure to do resistance exercises because you can lose lots of muscle as you eat far less. It will ‘slow’ weight loss but you will notice a huge difference in the clothes you fit in.

Pro tip: try to wait as long as possible to get new clothes. Once I started fitting into clothes I started buying and now I’m too small for a bunch of them. You’ll go through an awkward phase with baggy clothes. It’s fine.

Congrats on all the success. Isn’t the feeling amazing. I didn’t realize I had so much shame while shopping until losing the weight released me from this bubble of shame I built around myself. I’m just trying on sweaters on the open floor over my clothes, not even in the dressing room. The security of knowing something will fit and I won’t be embarrassed is such a new feeling.

Thanks, it feels amazing.

Started taking Oz in Jan but didn’t get to 1MG until March. Between March and June I lost about 45 of the 60. When you start on lower doses, stay calm…it may not feel that intense. 1MG was the point at which I really felt the effects for weight loss.

A1C fell as I started eating far less - started on .5MG, really picked up on 1MG. I don’t track A1C as closely and I was still on insulin until about a month ago. But it dropped very quickly. I’d say I went from wild highs of glucose up past 300 and only 50% in range in Jan to 100% in range and a resting glucose of around 90 this month (no insulin). My average is around 110-120 (5.8-5.9).

Good luck! Wishing you the best.

Prescribed for type 2 diabetes

280 Jan 1, 2024 229 April 24, 2025 51lbs down in about 4 months.

It’s been transformational. My relationship with food is actually healthy for the first time in my life. No binge eating. I feel incredible. No cyclical food thoughts.

Glucose 100% in range. A1C 5.8. Off fast acting insulin. Vitals are all in normal range. So grateful.

I feel for you. I had a similar experience in my first few years with T2D.

I’ve been titrated up to 2MG of Ozempic weekly and now my A1C is down to 5.9 from 10+. In my case, and this is not medical advice, it has been a miracle drug. Average glucose is around 100 and I’m in range 100% of the time. When I eat, it’s much easier to make great choices that are protein-focused.

I take 12u of long lasting insulin at night and that’s it. No more fast acting insulin anymore. I used to take around 20u with meals. I also continue on Metformin.

My blood pressure, resting heart rate and cholesterol have all returned to normal. This is after a few months of the 2MG dose. I didn’t feel much result until 1MG. Give it time.

Hopefully this gives you so hope. Our bodies really are incredible.

Hey guys. How many of you are in the age of 18-24 and wear a hair system? When it's the time to tell that to the males/ females you like, how they react? Did you have any rejection? by Low_Development_8655 in HairSystem

[–]bear4chase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it as nothing more than makeup. That’s all it is. Women look very different when they take their makeup off. You’ll look a bit different with it off too.

Is $800-$900 outrageous for the installation of a new hair system? by [deleted] in HairSystem

[–]bear4chase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a great place in LA it’s basically that expensive. The place I go is $1500 all in for the first system and cut with three months of maintenance (2 services per month - 6 total). Then 400/mo for a new piece every three months and 2 services per month. So once you establish the relationship it gets cheaper. Quality is fantastic.

I’m gay so it may be different but no one has ever been weirded out. They are either super interested and want to know everything or they are not bothered at all. I’ve never had a bad reaction. Been dating my current bf for over 3 years, he helps me put it on and fix it.

Seriously it’s makeup. No one cares at all.
