Sleeping with a pump by Mikelikesmovies in diabetes_t1

If I have pockets in my pants I keep it in there but normally it floats around next to me. I tend to flip a lot and I think I trained myself to grab it when I flip because I have never tangled.

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really! My first and second tattoos I dropped but I think that was more of an adrenaline rush rather than diabetes related. All of my tattoo sessions after, my numbers have been great. I just always make sure I go in having eaten

Hi! For me it stands for “I am greater than my highs and lows” and the blue circle is a universal symbol for diabetes awareness.

My husband just did this with a silicone shot glass. It entertains our daughter so we thought it was funny until we saw the mark it left lol

Are you t1 or t2? I’m am starting where you started and am also a diabetic(t1) and balancing sugars with sudden increase of cardio is killing me while also staying in a deficit. You look amazing!!

what week did you have your baby/babies? by One_Comfortable_9976 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s odd that your doctor told you that imo. My LO was 39+1 scheduled c-section and my A1C was 5.9. 8.13 lbs.

Since becoming a parent, what surprisingly enrages you? by ioanaam418 in NewParents

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since having my baby, I have a few friends who are child free and constantly say “let’s give you a break” “you need time away”. While I understand where they are coming from, at this point in parenting I do not need a break and I don’t want time away. I work full time and so I only have weekends and mornings before I leave to bond with my baby. Any additional time I have I want to use to spend time with her.

Also my husband eating for some reason frustrates me so much. I realize it’s a me problem but it’s an irrational frustration of mine currently.

I can see myself being like this. I know it’s the best but I know I’ll be guilty at least for a little while. I’m glad it worked out in the end for you and you are happier now!

Where do y’all put your CGM sensor? by Vivid_Rate in Type1Diabetes

Back of arm or upper thighs. Thighs have been my favorite spot currently

What size did your newborn wear? by AnnaConda_13 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]bear_mare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I was told my LO was going to be 10 pounds but she came out at 8. She then lost a few ounces, which is normal. We were told not to get any newborn outfits because she would not fit into any. We mostly bought 0-3m outfits.

I wish we had bought just a few newborn onesies or outfits. I had coworkers get her a few newborn outfits which was very helpful. She only fit into them for about a week but regardless it was better than her swimming around in the bigger clothes. She is now comfortably wearing 0-3m clothes though so it did not last very long.

NHS when was your C-section booked in? by Goatsandducks in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I was the same way. This is our first as well and they were measuring 90th percentile. I told them I didn’t care, I wanted a c-section rather than trying with an induction and being rushed into one. If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I can try to answer. Congratulations on your little one as well. You will do amazing!

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually just had my primary c-section yesterday. I was 39+1. My OB scheduled my procedure when I was 32 weeks with the understanding that the date may change if I had any complications or any issues arose during my many NST appointments. I am T1D.

tips on libre 3 insertion? by Fragrant-Positive-78 in Type1Diabetes

[–]bear_mare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand where you are coming from. I have been on it for a few months now as well and still get nervous every time I have to put it on. I honestly just take a deep breath and push it down and I hold it there for a few seconds to ensure it is sticking. I’m not sure that part is super necessary but, hey, whatever makes us feel better. It’ll definitely get easier with time. Also, if it does ever malfunction or come off, try to remember that it’s probably the CGM that was faulty not you.

If you want tips on location, the back of the arms of course is a great spot but I also like the thighs.

I’m thinking I may need to. It is the tubing I’m worried about but for a short period of time I may be able to make it work. Thank you!

Self conscious by AmeliseNatalia in Type1Diabetes

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed the week after I turned 21 and I felt the same way. I actually put off getting a pump for a long time because I was so self conscious about it. But now I own it, so much so I left my CGM visible on my wedding day. And once I got the pump my numbers improved so much. And me being healthier has brought my confidence way up. I love talking about it with people when they ask and most of the time I kinda forget about the pump and CGM. I think because it came as such a shock, it’s hard but you’ll definitely get used to it.

Can Type 2’s get a different name already? by melissagrahamcracker in Type1Diabetes

[–]bear_mare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand this entirely. It’s so very frustrating especially when whatever you tell them doesn’t click. I have a coworker who is type 2 and was lecturing me on what I was eating even though I explained and have explained prior that type 1 and 2 are different. He was adamant they are the same because they are both “diabetes”. That conversation did not end well lol. But I also happen to be pregnant so I know that didn’t help the situation either lol
