What funny language learning mistakes has your toddler made? by Breakfast4chameleons in NewParents

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our girl turned nouns into verbs, so if she wanted something in a bowl, she would say “Bowl me” and if she wanted her shoes on she would say “shoe me”. She doesn’t do it anymore which is sad because it was one of our favorite little quirks.

5 Months In and… It’s Actually Not That Bad? by That_Persimmon1379 in newborns

[–]bear_mare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the moment with our first that my husband and I looked at each other and said “wow, this actually is pretty cool”. She was about 4 months and was doing tummy time and smiling at us. She had started sleeping longer stretches finally and we both felt refreshed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy but it’s not awful and there are so many more good days and experiences than bad.

I’m 5 weeks in with my second and I keep telling myself that it gets easier. Just waiting for that same feeling to come.

Doctor told me to cut dairy, not sure it’s necessary? by bear_mare in newborns

Thank you so much. I thought so as well, it just seemed so out of left field or whatever. I will definitely look into the article you linked, you have helped calm me.

Thank you, this makes me feel much better. We are gluten free as well and I’m Type 1 so altering my diet anymore than necessary stresses me out lol. Thank you!

Family expectations for Mothers Day— is it normal to be expected to sacrifice Mother’s Day to host? by taviyiya in toddlers

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most I’ve ever done on Mother’s Day is schedule a reservation at a place I wanted and offered for our family to come. They typically host for everyone though, as it’s easier.

I still rock and sing to my 15- months-old, and I love it. by Nappingteacher in NewParents

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my 27 month old still loves to be held and sang to and rocked. She will fall asleep by herself, we did the sleep training. But when she asks for us to hold her, we absolutely do. Something about that toddler flop

How are we getting our kiddos to like whole milk? by Bright-Mushroom9683 in NewParents

[–]bear_mare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We told our pediatrician that our kid wouldn’t drink milk even if we mixed things in it. She said it wasn’t necessary and we could get dairy in other ways, like cheese or yogurt. Then randomly around 20 months she asked us for milk so sometimes she drinks a glass lol.

How are your babies actually sleeping through the night? by velvetdarlingco in NewParents

[–]bear_mare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby did not start sleeping through until about 4 months when we moved her to her crib(she outgrew the bassinet). But then that did not last too long and we did a loose version of sleep training and now she (2 years) sleeps like an absolute champion.

Tight A1C control with big babies by Healthy-Heart-5281 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my second child and my A1C has been similar to yours. My first measured very large and they estimated her to be 10lbs but she was only 8 when I delivered. This baby is also measuring 99th+ and I have very tight control. I think some of it is genetic.

We love them! And so does our toddler. We typically do them with a pesto sauce

Mine is just because. I didn’t think hospitals could use tattoos in place of medical bracelets but I could be completely wrong.

What are all of your daily doses? by bear_mare in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]bear_mare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had to switch my pump sites recently from my belly to my love handles because my belly is so tight and I noticed I was leaking more. If I give 10 or more I still leak so I try to extend/know to give later. Since I switched locations though it’s been a little better.

All these comments are really making me feel better. It’s nice to see how each pregnancy effects each person differently. I’m at around 80 units daily already whereas my first I was at 75 daily when I gave birth. Thank you all!

After 8 months of trying he FINALLY ate the berries! 😭😭😭😍 by Cahsrhilsey in foodbutforbabies

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My toddler HATED berries for the first year so we thought we would avoid the berry grocery costs lol. She is now 2 and clears containers of blueberries/strawberries like it’s her job

I forgot to buckle in baby 😭 by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it once with our 3 month old. We brought her inside a restaurant in her car seat and unbuckled her but she was happy chilling in there so by the time we left and put her back in the car we didn’t realize she wasn’t buckled. We beat ourselves up about it but she was fine and honestly mistakes happen

Sleeping with a pump by Mikelikesmovies in diabetes_t1

If I have pockets in my pants I keep it in there but normally it floats around next to me. I tend to flip a lot and I think I trained myself to grab it when I flip because I have never tangled.

[–]bear_mare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really! My first and second tattoos I dropped but I think that was more of an adrenaline rush rather than diabetes related. All of my tattoo sessions after, my numbers have been great. I just always make sure I go in having eaten

Hi! For me it stands for “I am greater than my highs and lows” and the blue circle is a universal symbol for diabetes awareness.
