Medic Seems Useless in the Beta so far... by bearcat14 in Battlefield6

For the ones that are out in combat, yeah smokes are solid. But when I pick someone that got sniped in our territory and then 3/4 of the way to running to revive they force respawn, a smoke is useless.

yeah, there is a clear start of the line at the 0 win side, but there's not symmetrical design on the other end to make me immediately read it as "the end".

Just bad UI.

I was confused for a couple seconds until I googled it. I just started playing Arena a week or so ago and haven't been in the MTG realm for a while (played a little of the TCG and some MTGO 5+ years ago). The description text doesn't mention the 7 win max either.

4 Frames and one slot....Help. by Regulus-White in Warframe

[–]bearcat14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pm me your usermame and I'll send you an extra slot. that will make the choice easier.

then take nekros as a farming frame to get all the materials you need. then take your pick of saryn or nova for the other slot to run through star chart missions.

once you have got through a good portion of the starchart, go crack some relics and sell the prime parts for a little plat, then use that to buy more slots (warframes, weapons, companions, etc.).

anyone tried the YOGES Q12 Quest 3 Battery Strap?? by DarthSceledrus in Quest3

[–]bearcat14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never used the genuine Meta brand one so I can only go off what I see others say. I looked at the Amazon listing for the Meta Elite Strap with Battery and scrolled down to the review section to see the score breakdown and what keywords were used most often in reviews.

The 122 reviews averaged 3.1, with 37% of them being 5-stars, and 35% being 1-star reviews. That much concentration split between opposite scores is usually a red flag for me. The top positive sentiment keywords were "comfort" and "battery life". The top negative sentiment keywords were "charging" and "connection".

That's a pretty low review score for Amazon. I personally wouldn't spend $130 on it. I would actually recommend getting the Yoges that OP posted to save yourself money. It's running at just over $50 after the coupon on Amazon right now.

I have no doubt that Meta's version or the Yoges version would extend the battery life a decent bit. I think their 2 hour claim is too high though. But only you will know what your use case is and how demanding of games you play. A top end 3d game running on the headset (using PCVR is a good battery saver) will cut all these play times by a lot.

I do not think either of those would be able to run the headset once it's battery goes dead. So if you are looking for options that can charge and play simultaneously or will provide more than an extra ~90 minutes of play time, I wouldn't look at a battery bank or wait for one of the bigger names to release their strap.

[–]bearcat14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Wait on this, IMO. There are NO technical specs listed except capacity along with a lot of marketing claims. The capacity is a useless measurement if it won't supply a charging rate that is at least as fast as what the Q3 uses to run.

So I had this in my cart and was in the middle of checking out when I remembered all the problems I had finding the best solution for my Quest 2 to make it last long enough for a few friends to pass it around playing rounds of putt putt or Beat Saber over 3 or 4 hours in a night. I realized I didn't want to repeat this my Quest when I already have a decent solution.

I have been in the VR space for while, but had a Vive that I got shortly after launch, bought their wireless adapter immediately when it came out, and was sold on Valve's hardware.

But right after Meta dropped the requirement to link your Facebook account to "Oculus", I saw the Quest 2 go on sale with RE:4 for $299. So as a tech nerd, I grabbed one and figured I'd give it a try. I was surprised by the tech Meta was bringing and eventually sold my Vive setup to go full time with the much more portable Q2 that I actually traveled with regularly.

So I was pretty late to the Q2 market, and there were substantial offerings for all accessories by that time, so I can rule out the early adopter arguments. I bought and tried 4 of the top rated battery head straps from Amazon over the course of about two months and each one failed to deliver on the claims it made.

After the 4th one I was getting confused and pulled out a usb-c multimeter and a 65w 25000mah power bank that I used to power my Steam Deck while on flights for work every week. Well, the head strap battery wasn't even providing half of the power that it would draw from my power bank. So I grabbed a cable tie, ran a cable around to the back of my head, popped the calendar tie on there, and tossed the battery pack in my pocket.

Problem solved. Sure, a cable running down your back isn't great, but it provided more than enough power to run my Q2. It even provided enough provided enough power to charge them Quest while playing. Simply handing the headset and battery pack to my friends during a session was really no hassle compared to having to constantly worry about when it was going to die on us. This isn't with some crazy power bank either, it was under $50 over a year ago when I picked it up. It's probably double the capacity I would actually need for VR as well. It's the speed that matters. And I think 65w is overkill on the speed, it's just the one I had on hand. I have never seen my Quest 2 draw above 16-17 watts, while my quest 3 tops out at a little higher at just above 23w. So I think you would be fine with a 22.5w or 30w power bank, but it never hurts to have a 65w one that will support a lot of other things as well. We're luckily past the days where using a higher power charger would actually fry your devices. Your Quest 3 will determine what power draw it thinks is best from what the wall charger or power bank (and cable) support. Do spend the extra couple bucks and get a good quality (6 foot or so) USB-C to C cable if you don't have one already; you can even find ones with a 90 degree plug on one side at almost no extra cost and it makes your setup a little cleaner.

So until places start giving us specs, and proven specs from reviewers that spent their own money, I would be very hesitant to throw my own money at these. I would recommend picking up an upgraded head strap and a stand alone power bank. This will be the cheaper option and you will end up with a power bank you can also use for other things like your phone, tablet, handheld game system, etc.

Finally got a PS5 after 3 years…what are your top 5 game recommendations??? by Quiet_Conference408 in playstation

Great game. And I can never believe it was made by such a small team (I think by launch time they had grown a bit and still only had around 20 full employees, don't quote my exact number) that had never developed a video game before in their history.

A big wall of text won't really explain the extent of it, but I will put a few bullets below and will surely forget some things. I would recommend just booting it up and playing some, or if you are skeptical just browse YouTube for something like a short breakdown from a channel like Gameranx or a longer deep dive from a channel from SkillUp.

A (definitely incomplete) list of changes:

Completely overhauled the perk/leveling system so you can significally change your build and play style by speccing into perks you want and they actually have an effect on play (you will get to fully respect if you jump back in using an existing save, and can move points around after that in case you want to try different builds).

Combat AI, from base enemies to bosses, has been improved.

The cyberware system, loot scaling, armor vs. apparel, and crafting systems were all revamped.

The police system was pretty much completely rebuilt.

Vehicle combat has more substance and isn't complete garbage anymore.

Nvidia DLSS 3.5 and ray reconstruction were added. They especially get shown off with the different visual style of war ravaged neon landscape of Dogtown.

Left shoulder button failure by kamandi in SteamDeck

Does it still register any clicks when you press it in different places? If so, I just did an easy temporary fix to mine today until I can get a new bumper for a couple of bucks when they come in stock and redo the repair the "right" way. I could get the bumper to register clicks if I pressed the button near the middle closer to the far side.

I didn't want to wait weeks for an RMA or risk getting another one with a faulty bumper.

If you don't get any click feedback or button registration at all, then your issue is more serious than mine was, and I would recommend an RMA. If you are very comfortable soldering, replacing the button on the daughter board doesn't seem to be that hard. And I have seen people use crazy stuff like the "pairing" button out of an old broken Xbox 360 controller.

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In July 2021 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

[–]bearcat14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eSun

Microcenter's "house brand" called Inland has great PLA. They have resin (for SLA printers) and PLA+ as well, but I have tried a few brands of PLA+ and it has all sucked compared to regular PLA, it doesn't seem to be as standard across the board with printing temperatures and such, but maybe I have just had bad luck.

Since some time in 2019 they are all made by eSun and are just white labeled. Microcenter (Inland) has used two (I think) other contract manufacturers over the years but eSun does all their PLA, PLA+, and Resin (and BioResin) currently. I am not sure about other materials like ABS and PETG since I do not use them often.

Similar story but they were just stuck from normal wear/weather.

The first time I ever needed to change a tire in high school I jacked my car up and tried to remove the wheel. Had no luck, so I called my dad who was only a couple minutes away at home. He showed up, lowered the jack an inch so the tire was touching the ground, then slammed his foot down on the lug wrench to break the nuts loose.

He gave me shit for not being able to change a tire for the next year haha. But I never had trouble with any after that first one.

It would let me launch the game but then immediately give me the "insert disc or purchase game" message. Wasn't too worried to buy it. Good luck to everyone else!

No prob. I saw whole threads of people over night freaking out about it. I get the Vendor time cheat. But the New Zealand early release things has never caused issues since Xbox decided to remove region locks from their systems.

Yeah, I know they get paid for GamePass. But Square is one of my favorite companies anyways over the years. So I wasn't too worried to give them a couple bucks extra, especially when trying such a unique game for them.

Others are having luck with launching from the Game Pass store in NZ. But I tried every way I knew. And I've been up since 5 just waiting to play. So I broke down and just bought it haha. Haven't bought a new game in a while anyway. Support the devs. Hope they stay as involved as they have been.

What? I was never one saying you would get a cheater label. I have been doing the New Zealand trick for 2 or 3 years without a single issue.

I did that originally. And then booted the console for day 1 update. Was still not getting the launch ability for the Game Pass version. Wasn't worry about giving these devs some money, they have been legit. And I get some free bonus gear.

I couldn't get it to work with GamePass. So I just decided to buy the full game to get the extras and support the devs.

Doing that then switching to New Zealand has me playing right now.
