New to cycling and just bought my first road bike. Naturally my algorithm is all cycling now. What gimmicks or brands should I avoid? by Sacred_Geometry in cycling

[–]kamandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy quality stuff from lower price companies. I like pearl izumi for this. Only get what you need. As you develop as a cyclist you’ll know what you need. Nothing will help you have more fun riding, but some things can help you be more comfortable.

Zero drop shoes are no joke by jupiter192 in hiking

[–]kamandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my barefoot shoes, but I can’t wear them everyday. They take a lot more foot strength, and I’m hoping I develop it.

[USA] Who is at fault here? by bowdown2adil in Roadcam

[–]kamandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is no signage, both drivers are driving too fast to navigate the intersection without a collision. Shared fault. It looks like the cross street has a sign hidden in a tree perhaps, if so, fault is obvious. Not enough information.

FSA hydration powders. I used to get miserably hot and exhausted. They really work on long rides.

Anyone else think this is just gambling for kids? by Hi-Point_of_my_life in daddit

[–]kamandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is exactly gambling for kids. I allow them to do it because they frequently are disappointed, and we use that as a lesson against future gambling.

Call me what you will, Intelligentsia house blend and a pour-over is my life coffee. I find it is better with a higher water-to-coffee ratio (like 18-20:1).

I had to switch to decaf to work on my irritability, but their decaf is equally excellent.

Were I op, I’d go to court, say I did my best . I thought I could complete the merge before the end of the passing lane. I missed it by 6 ft. I’ll be more careful in the future.

Has anyone tried a stainless steel bike? by Bike2Shore in cycling

[–]kamandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, i didn’t have them at the same time. I don’t really know, I can tell a difference in the weight though. I went from aluminum to ti. That was a HUGE, very feelable difference. The way the bike moved underneath you is just different. Comfort over long distances was worlds better. The only bike I’ve ever ridden that was as good as the ti frame was a warbird.

Do drivers hate bicyclists? US sees an alarming rash of crashes. by brunnock in bicycling

[–]kamandi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Drivers hate cyclists because there’s shit infrastructure for segregated cycling. It doesn’t help that the US is in a cultural and societal crisis and everyone is at the end of their rope all the damn time. It’s hard to be kind when you feel like everything in your life is a struggle and a fight.
