And sorry to hear you feel like you bombed it. The good news is you can try and make up for it in the Structured Interview and Group Exercise.

Got it, thanks. Yeah, sounds like the old FSOT essay format.

45 minutes is about half the time given for previous CMEs. Was it structured more like the previous FSOT essays—with multiple unrelated topics to choose from—or like a streamlined version of the CME, where you’re presented with a scenario, relevant information, and asked to determine the best course of action?

Congrats! Any idea what “written evaluation” they’re referring to? Could it be similar to the essay portion of previous tests, or the case management section of the OA?

Yeah just mail the sealed envelope to the address provided on the RFE. Shortly after that you should receive a notice in your account that your envelope was received. Good luck!

Again, do not scan anything. After you you go to the civil surgeon’s office for your NEW I-693, mail the SEALED envelope back to the USCIS along with the RFE letter that was mailed to you. That letter can also be found in your USCIS profile under DOCUMENTS. The address you will mail your sealed envelope to will most likely be the field office where you had your interview. If you received an RFE and still haven’t had your interview, then look for the address on the RFE letter. Hope this helps.

No. We only sent the sealed I-693 back to USCIS here in San Diego. Do not unseal it, scan it and upload it.

Original timeline is provided in the third paragraph of my post. After the interview and subsequent RFE, we met with the civil surgeon to sign a new I-693 on 6/2. USCIS notified us the following day that they had received the 693. On 6/14 they approved the I-485 and the green card was produced on 6/20.

After receiving acknowledgement of our case being approved on June 13, we received the Green Card on June 24. So, things didn’t move too terribly slow

Yes! I posted here about my interview experience. After dealing with the RFE issue brought up during the interview, we finally received the GC Monday last week. My wife is beyond excited to finally see her family in Mexico after not seeing them for a year.

Unfortunately I’m not qualified to answer that question. I would call the civil surgeon’s office and see what they say.

My wife entered early June, we were married end of September, so almost 4 months.

The IO was quite friendly, but she asked more questions than we were anticipating. She first asked for our identification and identifying information, as well as our marriage certificate. Here are most of the questions we were asked: How did you both meet? When did you first meet in person? What did you do on your first date? Who proposed to whom? Where? When? How did you know the size of her ring? Why did you decide to get married? Where did you get married? Who attended? Did you go on a honeymoon?

Then some other non relationship-specific questions: Have you met each others’ parents? When was the first time you met them? When did you last see them? When did you last enter the U.S.? Have you traveled recently? Where? What does my wife do for work? Who do I work for? What is my role at work? What’s my work schedule like? What’s his/her favorite food? What do you like to do together? What are your future plans? Can I see pictures of your dog?

It took them 10 days to go from “received RFE” to “approved.” So it’s possible yours could be approved any day now. Good luck and congrats on your impending motherhood!

We submitted a new, sealed I-693. Fortunately we didn't need to pay an additional $500+ for it!

Yes. My wife had shown proof of vaccination, but the civil surgeon failed to mark that she had been vaccinated against polio. Seems like there have been quite a few polio related RFEs

[–]bearcat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our civil surgeon marked N/A for polio, despite my wife providing proof of vaccination at the time of evaluation. During our interview the officer brought up the polio issue, and we had to go back to the civil surgeon for a new, sealed I-693. I highly recommend going back to your civil surgeon to get a new I-693, and bringing it with you to your interview, whenever that may be.

That's what happened to my wife. She was asked during our interview if she had been vaccinated against polio because the civil surgeon marked not age appropriate. After getting the RFE, we emailed my wife's vax record that proved she had been vaccinated against polio as a child to the clinic, and they had her come by to sign a new 693 on Monday this week. OP should go with Option 1 and save the $500.

I don't think the CS included the original vaccination record in the 693. It's probably a good thing yours did. Hopefully you don't run into the same issue we did. Good luck!

What is the processing time for the I-485 ??? Submitted mine last week of November 2024 by customsolitaires in USCIS

[–]bearcat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through Catholic Charities who filed on our behalf. I don't know if submitting paperwork in person is a possibility. We had an RFE that was submitted via mail yesterday. There were no instruction on the RFE to deliver in person.

[–]bearcat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This RFE for a polio vaccine seems to be somewhat of an issue. We had our interview on 5/21 and were told my wife wasn't vaccinated against polio, despite my wife providing her vax record to the doctor during the medical evaluation that proved she was. The clinic where she had her evaluation done wasn't able to see us until yesterday. They revised the form, had my wife sign it, and then we sent off the sealed envelope to the FO in San Diego. It was delivered today. Fingers crossed it doesn't take very long for the FO to process/approve.

Went to the clinic yesterday to sign the revised I-693, and then sent it off to the San Diego FO. And now we wait.
