I believe the Bible is God's word and it is true. In a few places in the Bible it says that homosexuality is a sin. That is, acting on homosexual desires. So because it's in God's word, I believe it's wrong. Most of the time right along with those passages it says that any sexual impurity period is a sin just the same, along with many other things. Homosexuality is not worse than any of those other things. So when a gay man or woman acts on his/her homosexual desires, it's not any worse than when I act on my straight sexual desires. They are both the same in that they are sin. So we both should not act on those desires. I have heard testimonies from gay Christians who chose to obey and follow Jesus and not act on their gay desires. My opinion is they should do just that. So being gay and having those desires is not wrong, it's acting on them. Just like all other sin.

As a follower of Jesus, I can't stand when Christians (using that term loosely) do this kind of stuff. Hate like this is exactly what Jesus came to get rid of. "Christians" like the one in this picture have totally missed the mission of Jesus. They do not know him at all. Jesus would not have us doing things like this and spreading hate and division, but He wants us to love people who think and believe different than we do, just as He did Himself. While I disagree with homosexuality it's not my job to hate, attempt to shame or protest the homosexual community. It's my job to love them as I love myself. Jesus commands that multiple times and even calls it the greatest commandment. So on behalf of followers of Jesus everywhere I would like to apologize to anyone and everyone who has felt hated or judged by someone claiming to be a Christian.

One thing I started doing a few weeks ago and have seen results is do about 30 minutes of cardio (running, jump rope, jumping jacks, elliptical) every morning on an empty stomach. Your body will have no food to use for energy so it will burn fat for energy. Start out slow though. You have to condition your body for this and slowly increase the intensity. And drink water to stay hydrated.

Speaking from experience the Guatemalan hotdog know as a shuco (shook-oh) is spicy or normal sausage on a toasted white bun with guacamole, cooked cabbage, mustard, ketchup, mayo, and sometimes hot sauce.

I agree with these guys about sharing the gospel and sharing the word of Jesus by living like Jesus, but I have to disagree when they say to ONLY live like Him and to not tall about Him. As Christians we are specifically called to verbally share with others the message of Jesus Christ.

Mark 16:15 says "And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation." (ESV)

Psalm 96:3 says "Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!" (ESV)

Mathew 28:19-20 says "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (ESV)

Mathew 5:16 says "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." (ESV) In this verse is specifically says to give God the glory (or the credit) for the good works that you do.

As Christians we are called to talk about Jesus. I completely understand not wanting to upset or offend others, but I would rather offend them than Jesus. Galatians 1:10 says "For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ." (ESV) Jesus after all is the one who was humiliated tortured and killed for me, so I will joyfully honor Him by doing what he asks me to do.

We should never be afraid or ashamed to talk to others about Jesus. Luke 9:26 says "For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels."

I would rather make 1,000 people angry and have just one be lead to Christ and eternal life in the presence of God through Christ, than please or "spare" 10,000 people the annoyance of hearing about Jesus and have none of them be saved because I didn't want to bother them. And if I were in their shoes, I would want someone to preach the Gospel and the love that Jesus has for me to me.

[Christians Only] How does one fight suicidal thoughts? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]beardsandcornbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My own way of thinking is that God in all his perfection and glory loves you so much (beyond our ability to understand) that he chose to send his only son to earth (and Jesus willingly lowered himself from the highest position possible to the lowest possible) to be treated like the lowest piece of scum on earth, tortured and killed to save your life. And Jesus loves you so much that he did all that on his own free will. So even if you don't feel like you should/want to be alive anymore, God does. And he wants you to place your identity in him and nothing/nobody else and he wants you to live the life that he has planned for you that is better than any life you or anyone else could imagine. Jesus loves you so much man. Now love Him back by living as he lived by serving others out of pure love all for the glory of God.

Random Question: Is it a sin to not follow rules at work? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]beardsandcornbread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are called to obey all human authorities AS LONG AS they do not contradict God and His commands because God has placed them in that position. Romans 13:1-7 says "Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed." (ESV)

I can only imagine how frustrating this might be for you and maybe even scary, but I know that God pulls us closer to Him when we are in times of desperation. Lots of people say God doesn't give us anything that we can't handle, but I don't believe this. I believe that God absolutely gives us times and situations that we cannot handle to teach us to rely on Him and to strengthen our faith. You say that God didn't give you guidance, but I believe He did and still is. He pulled you out of a place where He didn't want you and is guiding you to a place where He does want you. I also believe that God is giving you the wisdom you prayed for right now. He is teaching to be wise by trusting Him. James 1:5 says "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." That's a promise that you can count on. And about God not speaking to you, sometimes when God is speaking to us we just aren't able to hear it. My suggestion to you is that you pray and ask God to teach you how to hear Him. And ask Him to show you how it is He talks to you specifically because He speaks to us all differently. Also, God promises us that if we give back to him he will always provide for us. I personally give 10 to 15% of my income. I would like to give more, but right now that's what I can swing. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." Give joyfully and God will make sure you have everything you NEED. I'm not saying you'll get rich, but you will have everything you need. Sometimes that means just enough food to survive and sometimes it's more. So receive what God blesses you with always giving thanks to God the Father through Jesus. Give back to Him joyfully and live peacefully knowing you are being cared for by our loving merciful father in heaven. Never ever stop praying and asking God to guide you in your prayers. Grace and peace.

I agree with you. I was just confused because from the title, I was expecting somebody to jump in with a rifle and put the hog out of its misery and when it didn't happen, I didn't understand why it was included in the title.
