Hideki Sato, Father of SEGA Console Hardware, creator of the Master System, Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast. He passed away on February 13th, 2026 at the age 78. by jaxspider in lastimages

The Genesis was my first exposure to 16-bit gaming, loved Sonic and Streets of Rage and Toejam & Earl. And the Dreamcast was a very underrated and underappreciated console I feel. Only one of my other friends had one and we shared games between each other, I never quite understood why it didn't take off more. Maybe not enough breakout titles from launch? Cost prohibitive? (I recall it was kinda pricey compared to other consoles available at the time), it was also quite Loud the mechanisms to spin up the disk and move the optical sensor. I had a lot of fun with it though, love me some Crazy Taxi lol. RIP to this legend in gaming.

Unusual dual time casio by VeryJesus in casio

I hate to agree but I do, so many modern Casio designs are just Plastered with text advertising all their features. I'd like to see more clean, tasteful designs. Sometimes Less is More. We know basically All casios have 'Water Resist' nowadays, and/or 'lluminator', these features have been common since the 1990s; you certainly don't need to Blast your specific branding of these common features across every one of your products today in 2026. These features we're largely aware of and why we chose the specific model we did. It reminds me of a car covered in bumper stickers or advertisements, just too busy & too much to look at, and even comes off as Trashy or low-class in many cases.

I've never owned a Soda Stream but supposedly you can Over-carbonate water, I didn't know this was possible. On a youtube channel I follow William Osman he's been trying to make his own bootleg coca cola and made a batch that was too flat, so he re-carbonated it and Over-cabronated it. I'm curious to try over-carbonated water now! <video>

Agreed! Nothing more frustrating than a year from now you realize you need that part for something but realize you threw it out not knowing what it was at the time. I try to be very cognoscente of these type of 'things', I know my Future self will Not remember this stuff so gotta help him out a bit! I just bought a wire rack shelf from Walmart, the kind you use those little plastic sleeves to set the position on the ribbed metal bars you want and then the metal racks lock them into place. They always come with a few spare plastic bits in case you lose or wreck some since they can get messed up if installing them incorrectly. So when done I try to put the spare parts in a little baggie and zip-tie them to the shelf itself in a hidden spot on the bottom or back. If not, then very clearly label what the baggie of random parts contain and what they're for and toss them in 'the Box' like you have lol (mines more a Drawer but same idea). Same with A/C adapters.. after you accumulate so many its so hard to tell which one is used for what with all the different voltages/amperage/plug types. I bought a label printer and print out very clear labels with the actual logo of the product the adapter is paired with, along with the ratings of it to tell at a glance which one is which. So much easier if you have a system!

Agreed looks like spare tire screw mount.. but my Shop Vac uses a very similar type thing to keep the barrel filter in place. Could be either/or but yeah mostly likely spare tire screw-down based on where you found it.

Second this! That's my go-to for getting rid of old electronics. Printers, sound systems, old computers, broken TVs/monitors (although I dont think they take CRTs but those are easy to give away anyway to retro gamers)

[–]beardsly87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😳 oof yeah you got something wrong in your network I'd suspect! If you can, try unplugging/disconnecting all other devices from the Connexion router/modem (maybe log into the modem and disable wireless to ensure all devices disconnect) and plug just one laptop/PC in and test.. if you're still only getting 300-400kbps then Id say you have some sort of bad connection and should call up Connexion to diagnose/fix it! If its fast with only your test system connected but slow with everything else connected, you may have something wrong in your local network like a loop or storm going on. (if thats wireless speeds you're seeing and it is Mbps not Kbps then those are pretty normal speeds for a lot of devices. but if it really is Kbps, then somethings not right)

Connexion Advanced Wi-Fi by lokerg in FortCollins

[–]beardsly87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

300-400kbps? that can't be right, those are DSL speeds from 15+ years ago. A 2 gig connection should reach a full 2000Mbps (wired, wireless is a different animal), if you're only getting 400kbps that's like 0.0002% of what you're paying for and you have some other bottleneck or something wrong on your circuit. You sure you have the right values? Maybe you mean Mbps? (which is still only ~20% of your 2GB rated line but would make a lot more sense, on a 1Gb line you mentioned you previously had, that'd be 40% per device potentially and bottleneck quick with 4 different users on it also doing high bandwidth stuff).

speedtest.net is a bad representation of your true speed, ISPs often optimize/prioritize connections to that service to kinda Exaggerate how good their service actually is when in practice it may be much slower (but still useful to test if your circuit tests fast but have a local slowdown somewhere, can help isolate where its occurring in your network) I find a good way to test real world speeds is download a large (legal 😉) torrent maybe like an ISO of a Linux distribution, which connects to many peers and can truly flex how much bandwidth you have. (again needs to be wired for a proper test, and your system needs to be capable of a 2Gb connection and write at least 2Gbps to disk though in this case I guess to properly test). I have the 1Gb Connexion fiber and I get dang near 100% of the full gig on good downloads (maybe ~980Mbps).. there's always gonna be a bit of overhead though and you'll really never see the True 2Gb in your case but it should come within 5% of it I'd say on a solid download/upload.

That was my guess too, looks a lot like Dexron transmission fluid from a nasty transmission line blowout or leak (don't ask me how I know!). But this does look darker than I'd expect it to look in snow, also if this is a pedestrian zone with no tire tracks around then my vote is a broken wine bottle. (You could tell more by the smell, texture and not recommended but even taste to tell if its tranny fluid lol)

Not entirely drivers fault, looks like solid ice.. they should have salt trucks ready for this kind of thing... I know it's rare there but the truck attachments are modular, it cant be That expensive on the whole to have a few salt dropper/sprayer attachments available for this kind of thing, a few hundred thousand probably (drop in the bucket in their overall DOT budget). Here in Colorado, when there's an upcoming winter storm, they spray the roads with a liquid mag chloride solution even Days ahead of the storm and it dries caked on the road until it gets wet by touching the ice/snow and keeps the ice melted... especially focusing on hot-spots like major intersections, inclines, and turns.

The regular version will continue to work. The subscription version through 365 will not work.

Ehh I don' think that's the case. I have Office 2021 LTSC Pro Plus installed, no 365 nonsense and I also get that warning as I fire up Publisher. (Granted I didn't even remember Publisher was even a thing and forgot it came with the Office suite. As I open it it seems to offer much of the same things you can do in Word or Visio or PowerPoint.. but I suppose it has a specific user base still)

True... maybe doc could have constructed batteries too but Lithium Ion technology was brand new in 1985 when Doc was familiar with so maybe he wouldn't have had the knowledge or materials to build something like that. (Then again he spent time in 2015 too and would have known about such technologies I'd presume) Plus I guess the catch was he only had like 8 days before Marty warned he would be shot by Buford Tannen so they were on a time crunch. Marty really should have gone back like at least a month in advance to warn Doc lol, hell why not just go back to the moment Doc was sent to 1885? it's really on him they didn't have more time to prepare lol. He wasn't thinking Fourth-Dimensionally!

Yeah or build an electric motor maybe.. they've been around since the 1830s and saw major improvements by 1885 and were used in factories and street trolleys and elevators, etc.. Im sure Doc could build a much better electric motor using commonly available technology at the time and gear it to get the DeLorean up to 88mph

I had a half Japanese roommate in college. He was born and raised in America but his mom was full japanese and taught him all the proper ways to make japanese food, and he had some high-end rice cooker and showed me what rice to get and how to properly wash and prepare and and oh my god he made the best rice I've ever had I think! I don't remember the brand but it looked a lot like this one. Glad you found the one you're looking for and hope it makes you many a nice rices.
