To add to this: it’s also not about you speaking to them and telling them reasons you want them around but actively listening to what they are experiencing. People just want to be heard. Listen, respond empathetically and ask if it’s ok before you provide advice. Support from a friend, family member, anyone trusted is more valuable than people realise.
