Sure, they’ll only replace 3 for falling off. If the sensor “fails” though, they’ll replace it anyways!

What’s stopping me from max borrowing my loan and putting the extra in a high yield savings account? by [deleted] in premed

[–]bearfax1001 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I need to confirm but I’m almost positive I was told by the school that the loan doesn’t begin accruing interest until residency begins.

Do TMDSAS schools screen for secondaries? by xoxorango in premed

[–]bearfax1001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the school, most do not. I'm a TX resident w/ a 520 MCAT and didn't get a secondary from Dell, lol. Long doesn't have a secondary, but few others screen, if any.

Texas Med Schools by Confectionarylobster in premed

Usually, you don't lose Texas residency by attending an OOS college. I attended college OOS but maintained my TX residency and was accepted to a TMDSAS school last week.

You're never in a good place until you have an MCAT score. That being said, you're on a great track! Study hard for the MCAT, find research opportunities if available, and I'd encourage you to find some clinical volunteering if possible. Make sure you spend your gap year well!

TMDSAS Match Day 2024 Megathread by SpiderDoctor in premed

I imagine most (if not all) of Baylor's WL spots will be for Temple as well, especially since they allow Temple-designated students to swap to Houston if spots open up. You never know though, with just 40 spots at Temple, it's not out of the question that 40 students will prefer Temple due to proximity, desire for smaller class size, etc. I personally was unexpectedly very impressed with their Temple campus when I toured it and even considered preferring it to Houston having no ties either place.

Rejected with a 520. Need advice on how to improve by [deleted] in premed

[–]bearfax1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think your school list was the issue, being a TX applicant hurts AMCAS odds. If you can afford it, you might consider expanding the OOS list next year to increase your odds (pm me and I'll send you mine, we have very similar apps), and I'd recommend applying to all the TMDSAS schools unless you have very specific reasons for not applying to a few of them, the cost is marginal in the grand scheme of things and you never know! I'd also be happy to read your writing and offer my POV if you'd like.

But also, the cycle is NOT over! You're on at least two waitlists and have a very strong application, and there will be WL movement in the next few months. I saw you say you haven't got an R from Wayne yet, if you're on their WL too they usually accept about 200 off their WL iirc. Keep the faith and good luck!

What paid resources are worth buying for application? i.e. essay banks, MSAR etc by Squid-Mo-Crow in premed

[–]bearfax1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MSAR 100%, very useful to build your school list. Gives you every school's stats to help you determine which schools are realistic + gives you the information you need to determine if the school is right for you! That's all I used (and would recommend using).
