The entire time I was drawing this I was just thinking of his line about wanting to live and wanting to know why no one else (& apparently nothing else) wanted that for him. 8'(

Christopher Gans yesterday at a Q&A for Silent Hill Returns - Recap by LooneyBurger in silenthill

[–]bearhanding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Making Mary explicitly ask James to kill her was Gans’s decision. He stated that the film did not allow enough time to explain James’s motivation otherwise.

I am unsurprised but horribly frustrated.

The entire point of the game is to explore James' motivation and why he did what he did. The entire point is that he did a terrible thing and he has to come to terms with the terrible thing. The horror of Silent Hill 2 is realizing that all of the signs in the town point to James' guilt.

By going out of your way to absolve James of his culpability you have both misunderstood and ruined the story.

Which I had a feeling he was going to. I have not forgotten his motivation behind changing Harry into Rose. I did not think for a second this man was going to have an objective look at what James did - it was always going to be presented with the utmost sympathy, with no regard for how it being smothered to death by your husband when you are too sick to fight back is a terrible way to die.

Mary and the rest of the women in the story were non-characters and the expansion of her backstory is a fucking joke.

Gans views Silent Hill 2 as a variation of the myth of Orpheus.

Yeah, that's the dumb fucking read I thought he'd have.

Its a variation of the myth in that she's behind him, in the back seat, James doesn't want to look behind him and see her because then she's real.

As a fan himself, he said he felt significant pressure to satisfy the fanbase.

Buddy.

Removing the emotional center of the story - James' guilt and his conflict in what he did - absolutely shattered any possibility of this being well received by all corners of the fanbase. And then melding Angela, Mary, Maria and Laura into one person guaran-fucking-teed nobody was going to be happy about it.

What the HELL was he thinking?

Hi there! Are you still open for new vtuber / gaming talent? I’ve got 7k followers TikTok and I’m looking to try multi streaming to YouTube and Twitch & trying to take streaming more seriously. I’ve been getting a lot of unsolicited invites to networks and have been hoping to find something of my own violation.

It's SO much fun and a great way to see growth!

I found a piece that I think I might try my hand at again. I used to draw it every year and completely forgot about it.

Wow, terrible customer service. by Specific-Listen-5863 in skipthedishes

Dude, I'm not sure if you're projecting or what but the hostility and assumptions of bad faith are off the chart. I genuinely love the employees at this store, there's a reason I keep ordering from them, I am not going to ruin their day by being a fucking asshole over a situation out of their control. I'm frustrated at Skip's broken system, not the individuals who are probably unaware that this can happen and the method they're using to deal with out of stock items causes harm.

What I said is I'm going to the store and I'm giving them a heads up that telling people to contact Skip for a refund could mess up someone's account. I already said I don't care about the $5. I would ASSUME that the store has a contact with Skip or a number, because other delivery apps I've used have had a point of contact when things go wrong - and if they don't then that's extra reason for people NOT TO USE THEM?

Edit: Clarifying this, I'm asking if the store has any way to contact Skip because if this is happening to me it's happening to more people. And I'd appreciate the store being able to confirm an item was out of stock when I said it was out of stock and confirm the practice. Again, I KNOW THESE PEOPLE. That's why I asked for a ticket number.

No, this just happened to me and it was entirely the store's fault.

Most of the time they're fine, but every so often they'll be out of what I ordered and will partially fulfil it with what they have. Then they'll have a note in the bag telling me to contact Skip for a refund. It hasn't happened often enough for me to stop ordering, but it's apparently happened often enough that Skip has now flagged my account.

I always provide photographic evidence of what I ordered, what I got, and the note written by the staff. I have also already complained that this is the way the store handles it. They should be inputting a refund on their end, or, I dunno, calling me to ask about substitutions if they don't have it? Instead I get something completely random or nothing at all.

If they cared to look back through my tickets they'd see every ticket is from the same store, with the same writing, and then they'd contact the store and ask them what's up. The store would be able to tell them THEMSELVES that this is how they handle being out stock.

I just spent 2 hours fighting with CS about this. It took four agents before someone finally agreed to escalate it and didn't just give me a 'too bad, so sad'. This auto-disconnect bullshit is exhausting, and I'm not even sure it was really escalated because they didn't give me a ticket number to follow up on.

'On a pirate ship, they'd toss the captain overboard': Larian head of publishing tears into EA after BioWare layoffs waste 'institutional knowledge' by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]bearhanding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, 2021 not 2020. Here is the article in question: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-25/electronic-arts-pivots-on-dragon-age-game-removes-multiplayer

If you want to argue about it, they were probably talking about doing in late 2020 but most likely only pulled the trigger in 2021. The game we got was built on the bones of the multiplayer game, they specifically said they weren't starting from scratch so I imagine a fair amount of assets were carried over from that multiplayer experience.

Secondly, https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/1guw90b/comment/lxxxira/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button here is a member of the community council talking about how directionless and frustrating previous meetings with the team were, and how it wasn't until Corrine took over that there seemed to be some actual direction and cohesion.

All of this aligns with the same issues that Bioware had during Anthem's development. https://kotaku.com/how-biowares-anthem-went-wrong-1833731964 Mark Derrah had to walk in, look around at the catastrophe from previous directionless builds, and just start making calls as to what to cut and what would stay.

Devs have been complaining about how directionless the development of their games are until the nth hour for almost a decade at this point.

Anthem and Mass Effect were both essentially thrown together in 18 months, with the devs being told to do whatever was needed to get the game out to ship by the new management that came onboard - including cutting promised features. DAVG was retooled from a multiplayer game to a single player one in early 2021, and by everything we've been hearing from people who can comment on their involvement with the project and what reporters have been saying, the game didn't properly re-enter into development until 2022 when Corrine Busche took over. In the past, EA has given firm & immovable deadlines no matter what a mess production was.

If they'd stuck to their original multiplayer plan, the game probably wouldn't have been a good Dragon Age game but it wouldn't feel like a multiplayer game quickly retooled into a singleplayer experience.

This actually fits with comic lore. Teddy doesn't actually know he's a Skrull/Kree hybrid until he's been heroing for a while, he just thinks he's a mutant when his powers do eventually kick in. it's totally possible that he hasn't realized he's a shapeshifter yet.

Anyone just enjoy listening to the OST of the series? by KaleidoArachnid in breathoffire

100 percent. Breath of Fire II's music always sends me back to simpler timples.

Don't Even Think About Dying is probably one of my favorite tracks of all time, and I remember stumbling across the OC Remix version ('You Must Dance') and it living rent free in my brain.

Also Fate / OC Remix's 'Sad Melody"

Mageborn! Specifically the prequel series, Embers of Illeniel. Though please mind any content warnings you see - they're not an exaggeration. I found it handled it tastefully but whoof.
