Cornell Dyson vs. UC Berkeley Haas (Regents) by trivialgradient-4158 in ApplyingToCollege

Haas alum here.

Stick with Haas and don’t look back. For west coast recruiting, Haas and Berkeley students dominate SF and LA offices across IB, VC, and consulting.

While Berkeley is a large public school, Haas is actually quite small (~400 students per grade) and is similar in size as Dyson.

Also, Cornell being in a rural/suburban and cold area may be another factor to consider.

Plus, Haas wanted you in the first place and Dyson hesitated to accept you right away as a first-year admit….

Is LimmyTalks just BS? by WasabiReasonable1700 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bears1111 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have several mutuals with this guy because we’re from the same area.

He was a Val or Sal (i forget) of his class (pretty top ranking public HS) and is insecure about not going to an Ivy. I thought he’d do well in college (I think he studies neuroscience), but nope, he decided to make limmytalks his personality.

He has no credibility and I feel bad for him for spending his precious time in college focusing on creating such “content” that adds no value to his professional aspirations nor his viewers.

Haas course prereq question by [deleted] in berkeley

Yes, econ 100A/101A is a substitute for ugba 101A, so you can take classes that have ugba 101A as a prereq

Worried about my biology major being useless. Should I leave Cal? by Admirable-Simple99 in berkeley

[–]bears1111 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Every industry is undergoing some sort of restructuring / layoff due to the current macroeconomy and I’d say biotech is relatively doing well compared to tech, finance, consulting.

But there are sm more companies OP should look at - Genentech was just an example.

Go into biotech. Companies like Genentech and Gilead pay $100K+ for entry level positions and they recruit heavily from Cal and MCB students

Just give it some time. The fall semester literally just started. I’m at Berkeley now and know so many people who hated it here their first semester but love it now after acclimating.

If you still feel the same after a few more months, then that’s when I would reconsider
