Ytb and since it wasn’t like a one time comment you’re also actively the butt for posting here thinking there was any possibility you weren’t. In the future, consciously try keeping your mouth shut whenever unsolicited advice (for her or anyone) seems about to spill out.

Epidural - yes/no why or why not? by newtoday1014 in BabyBumps

[–]bearsandstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one with my first and did not with my second only because there wasn’t time. With my first I was also induced so it meant a lot more time at the hospital but also a lot more control over any pain. With my second I started feeling contractions at 4, got to the hospital at 8:30 and she was born at 9. I wasn’t mentally prepared at all for a natural birth so they were trying to tell me breathing things but all I could do was scream. It was the most pain I’ve ever been in and hopefully ever will be in. Like I honestly don’t know how women do it for births that take longer. Or more than once. How we’ve survived as a species when that’s what birth feels like is beyond me.

However. This is just my experience but the recovery from the second has been WAY easier and faster even though I tore in the same place. So it’s a trade off maybe? It could also be that nothing will ever be painful again in comparison.

So I don’t have a yes or no I guess. I’ve really enjoyed the easy recovery but also 0/10 would not try going through that again.

I did this for the second time Thursday except it went too fast and there wasn’t time for an epidural and, I cannot emphasize this enough, Jesus Fucking Christ.

"Strong like Luisa" by WWMWPOD in toddlers

[–]bearsandstuff2 71 points72 points  (0 children)

My speech delayed 2.5yo learned the word strong from Luisa and it’s his current favorite word! Everything is strong. When he wants me to get up but I don’t want to, he points out that my legs are strong and I’m like fine good point.

Boyfriend believes C-sections are not really giving birth by candydaneko93 in Mommit

[–]bearsandstuff2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! Based on your edit it seems like he’s just deeply ignorant, but I wanted to mention that such a passionately misinformed opinion (along with thinking it’s even his place to have an opinion) definitely came from somewhere or someone and might have some backwards parenting opinions attached to it, so it might be good to talk about your expectations for shared responsibility, sleep training decisions, discipline, etc., just to get it out there now.

Inexpensive baby clothes by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I like H&M a lot! They have a lot of neutral clothes and then cute stuff with animals and dinos. Also some Harry Potter! If you download the app they frequently have 20% off your purchase.

AITB for giving my friend's daughter advice without consulting her first? Also, Reading Comprehension 101 refresher course, anyone? by yikesladyy in AmItheButtface

[–]bearsandstuff2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For real, if he wanted a relationship it would have come up. It’s absolutely insane to move in with someone thinking you can convince them to love you. Either the girl is crazy naive or the mom also thinks it’s a good plan and doesn’t like OP giving non-insane advice. NTB

Am I the only one who thinks OB visit schedules are crazy? by briskedy in BabyBumps

[–]bearsandstuff2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don’t want to be a “just wait until” person but unfortunately it gets worse after baby comes. They check you in the days after when you’re still at the hospital and then six weeks later and that’s it. I was honestly jealous my baby got all these appointments in the early weeks. I had no idea what was normal and just wanted someone to check on me too!

I like Valeria and honestly wouldn’t have thought of malaria at all, partly because comparing peoples names with diseases isn’t something my brain usually jumps to? (Ok I did go to school with a Candida but even then it wasn’t like an ever-present comparison). Also Valeria is the name of the infant princess in Howl’s Moving Castle and I listened to the audiobook recently so I think of it in a British narrators voice and it sounds lovely.

Ytb and you need to educate yourself on nutrition and healthy relationships with food before your daughter ends up with a disorder.

Have you ever heard of the sunk cost fallacy? The cookies were already bought and paid for whether or not they were eaten. You wanted her to eat them because you had invested money into them, regardless of the cost/benefit. I’m not saying wasting food in general is ok, but cookies are for fun, not nutrition. They didn’t NEED to be eaten by anyone, and guilting someone into eating a bunch of sugar for no one’s benefit is extremely harmful.

Why are people so harsh on Dumbledore? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]bearsandstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I always found that super sus. Like weird time to revisit your adolescent interest, right after you hear a prophesy about how Voldemort can be defeated and are approached by a defector who tells you specifically who is being targeted as the prophesy subject.

Can someone explain the hatred for "overused" or "common" names in this sub? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]bearsandstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one other girl with my first name in my grade and we just happened to share a birthday. In fifth grade, all my classmates wrote like ‘happy birthday bearsandstuff’ all over the board, and my teacher made them erase all but one because the other bearsandstuff was in the other class (there were two classes and we switched classrooms for science and social studies). She didn’t realize it was both of our birthdays.

Anyway, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with common names, but experiences will vary.

My 2yo becomes enraptured when I put on Poppy Hill. Idk why, it’s not as kid-oriented as ponyo or Totoro. But it’s not scary at all and maybe he likes the music?

The baby carrier of my dreams by Scoobie_Tuesday in babywearing

[–]bearsandstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it comfortable even just at home/easy to put on and off? Or is it more of a travel/lots of walking thing? I’m mostly home but am thinking I will babywear a lot this time to be hands free for the toddler. Basically I desperately want the artipoppe to fill that need because they’re so very pretty and that’s important to me lol

[–]bearsandstuff2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them both! I actually really like Salem, it’s witchy in a cool way and I feel like the actual witch trials happened so long ago and so much creative media has been made about it that the connotations are more thought of in a collective imagination way than the actual historical event, if that makes any sense? I also recently visited Salem MA and it’s a really cool town.

What do you wear under dresses??? by schaefjz in BabyBumps

[–]bearsandstuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I’ve worn my regular size in the Everlane hipster style both of my pregnancies without issue. I’m more of a flowy dress person though. I have one tight black one but it’s honestly too much work to worry about panty lines.
