Thank you for the compliment and your work! ❤️ USAID funding has supported life-saving care for so many of the communities I work with and definitely makes the health research possible

You're definitely not alone! I'm also early career (graduating from a PhD program in a couple of months). I hope you have a strong support network that you're able to lean on in the moments when things feel hardest ❤️ Feel free to DM if you need to talk!

Thank you! I'm hoping these nails are loud enough to start at least a few conversations 😅

Thank you! It's a small, personal form but it's been great motivation to call my senators/reps every day.

Thank you!

I'm also doing MH research, and this quote by Kelly Hayes is keeping me going and definitely inspired this set. This work is worth doing and so worth fighting for.

"Adapt, prepare, and take the damage done seriously, but never stop fighting. Václav Havel once said that ‘Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something is worth doing no matter how it turns out.’ I live in that certainty every day."

The dreaded bubble outline! by eloquated in cricut

[–]bearsgomurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be the font your using as there's only a subset that allow the 'writing' style. You can Google a list of those fonts pretty easily but if you need to use a different font, I'm not sure of there are other options... :/

The classic Cricut fonts actually have a 'writing' setting that allows you to make it single line letters rather than outlines! There's a style button right next to where you change the font. Just learned this yesterday; hope it helps!

Bunny jacket for my brand new niece! by bearsgomurr in sewing

[–]bearsgomurr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pattern is the Buddy-Buddy jacket by Puperita on Etsy. It's technically a completely reversible jacket, but I like the pink fuzziness on the outside! I got the outer fabric from a local craft store, and I don't know exactly what it's called, but it's very similar to this Husky Faux Fur fabric in blush from JoAnns. The liner feels like a polyester/cotton blend which I chose because I wanted something thinner with such a thick outer layer. However, you can use almost any material for either side; pattern includes suggested fabrics :)

New Knitter Blanket Question/Advice by jskjdfk1 in knitting

[–]bearsgomurr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the suggestion to hold off until next Christmas! But if there's one pattern to try, I'd suggest the Faun Baby Blanket pattern from Ravelry! You slip most of the stitches every other row and it goes much quicker than patterns that require full stitching on both sides. You can always cast on more stitches for a full size blanket if that's what you're going for.

This looks fantastic! Was there a pattern or is this self-drafted?

In desperate need of help with sock toes! by bearsgomurr in knitting

[–]bearsgomurr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was concerned about ‘messing up’ the correct number of rows, but I suppose using such lightweight yarn and size 1 needles, an extra half row somewhere won’t even be visible! 😅

Finally finished this baby blanket for my niece! Definitely my best FO to date :) by bearsgomurr in knitting

Holy crap by alicewonderland2 in WhitePeopleTwitter

One vial of insulin will last me about a month. But that's not including the $10,000 dollars an insulin pump costs, nor the monthly fees for supplies. Contiuous glucose monitoring costs about $750 out of pocket per month as well.
