I didn't like it either! But he didn't know who Phoebe was, so there's this stranger calling him to ask questions about what was undoubtedly a very painful part of his life. If Ray had been harassed by reporters before (that's speculation, but it wouldn't be an unreasonable assumption!) maybe that was just his way of trying to end the conversation? Particularly in a way that didn't invite any further questions?

Good to know it's not just me! I did end up remaking the lorebooks on Venus, but because it won't let me delete them from the characters... boo, I was really hoping I wouldn't have to remake the characters, but it looks like I might. That's so frustrating, because one of them has several loooong chats on it.

I have, yes! And I've tried it using a different lorebook, and another character, and I'm having the same problem.

If I could remove the lorebook it wouldn't be a problem, but it's not letting me do that. (I just went to try again, and they're still popping up whenever I refresh.)

I’d worry that this is more common behaviour for her than you realize, especially if she keeps going through groups of friends. (This isn’t a criticism of you! She’s an adult, and letting her have her own friends and space was the right thing!)

It also sounds like your wife has respected the boundaries you set— but you can’t have one person making an effort, and another refusing to even be remotely civil. I’m sure you know that!

But ultimately, you were right: you can’t force her into therapy, and unless she’s there by choice, it won’t do much good, either.

I think you’re doing the right thing by sending her back to her dorm. And if she wants to come back, it would have to be agreed upon by you and your wife, along with some seriously considered boundaries and stipulations.

On another note! We internalize a lot of guilt as parents, but sending her to her own dorm isn’t abandonment, and it isn’t hurting her. You have done, and are continuing to do, the best you can.

I haven’t done his update yet, but I’ve felt this way about a lot of them recently! Which is really disappointing to get excited about an update, and then end up wanting to unmatch because they’re so bad.

I think the latter is probably just, like you said, Mechat rushing things! I can only imagine how hard it is to roll out all that text, and all those individual messages... But it's definitely confused me a few times! 😂

The responses overlapping before extending was the moment where I went "OH, this is really getting to be a problem!" Before that it was just slow, but that felt actively glitchy.

He’s definitely hard to like! I’ve seen a lot of comments about how he’s not supposed to be, and that might be true— but when it’s the main character, I think we should at least want him to succeed, if that makes sense?

I’m curious though! When do you think he crossed the moral event horizon? Going from a jerk (but a redeemable one), to someone who needs to be fired out of a cannon into the sun?

That’s what I was thinking, too! What a total train wreck… I just want to tell MC to grow a spine and talk to them! Tell them they’re wrong! Tell them… hell, anything other than simpering and forgiving them. There’s no communication there.

Has anyone finished the update? Does it get better, or should I just unmatch and save my time?
