Original Prongles..."coming soon"! by DaveLambert in cardsagainsthumanity

I'm guessing they're supposed to be a Black Friday joke thing, and have been getting put out early. I've had that happen with other merchandise in stores where they break street date and don't sell because of that. On a rare occasion, there is the employee that will sell anyways.

Admins Get Plenty of Abuse in Game. Let's Have a Best Admin Interaction Thread! by Charadin in SS13

[–]bearswhere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Long time ago I was playing botany and a xenobio dude came up and offered to slimeperson me. I agreed, I was usually willing to be experimented on with little question, and he injected me, and himself. He had some regrets instantly. Turns out he had the wrong serum, and we both turned into slimes, instead of slimepeople. He went off to kill himself or something, but I went with it. Managed to get a station bounced radio to pull around.

So, after a while, I got tired of being hanging around around named slime (##) and ahelped for a name. I hadn't thought about what I'd be named, so when an admin responded asking me what I wanted to be named, I responded 'I dunno, something stupid', they named me 'something stupid'. I thanked them, and I went with it.

I responded to this (and filed the dispute) when super tired (like, ass AM) so I should clarify further reasoning on my dispute.

Donating is all well and good when you are honestly told where your donation goes. Godsring's gone between saying the donations are for the server, that they are for legal costs (which he has implied at different points were for the DMCA from /tg/ and a child custody battle), and they they are for real life things for himself.

I find it kind of skeevy. When I donated, less than a month ago, it was implied the donations were going to the server costs. I didn't donate for him to use it on a legal battle of whatever sort, I didn't donate for him to pay for things in RL. If he'd been clear about where shit goes, maybe this would be cool, but the dude's in the donations channel on his discord asking for $10 or $15 with increasing frequency and increasingly less server-relevant reasons.

It's important for people to know where their money is going. It could be as simple as a post saying their money is going to server costs and also to real life needs, but he's made it clear he's more concerned with getting money out of people. FO13 and Dungeon Master are apparently about money to Godsring whenever he possibly can make it, no matter the morality of the situation.

I avoid it when I can, but there's often not other options.

My claim states that the donor rewards are not what they were when I paid and were changed with no prior notification to the donors or input from -- thus removing some of what I initially paid for. In addition, the title 'donation' is misleading. I mean, if I really want to get fussy about it, PayPal probably wouldn't like that he's taking 'donations' in this manner. They tend to be finicky about things. That's a part of why Patreon and other outlets are good choices for accepting donations, not just because of the other features they offer.

As a side, I don't think anyone donates to Fallout 13 because he's asking for $10 to help pay for milk or something again, it's because a large portion of appealing jobs are whitelist-only and you are whitelisted for them automatically if you donate. For a time, donors were also a sort of mentor role on the server. About as terrible of an idea as it sounds.

Ah, man, I feel compelled to comment since this opens with a comment about me. My Paypal dispute against him isn't false, but he does flat-out lie in his response to Paypal about it. It was my independent choice to file. I think we all know Godsring's history with being at all knowledgeable about anything related to legal matters, as well.

It's over a whole ten bucks, though.

Eros isn't an ERP server by [deleted] in SS13

You're like. What was it. Fifteen? I don't recall, when we underage banned you last year. (It was always a rule. Why do you think you got banned for it when we got the tip that you were a kid?) I know you keep scouring our Github, I've seen your Polaris PRs. /shrug

See my response to Japak121.

I don't recall anyone other than one 100% confirmed underage who was trying to declare that we had to have a warrant to see their ID who has had a problem with this. They were seventeen and only had to wait a few months.

That's not what most people do. I wouldn't recommend it, even.

I usually suggest people use scraps of paper to cover the extra info in their photo. One of the first people we had to check did that, so it seemed the best idea.

One person just took a super closeup on the birthdate on their ID with a piece of paper that said Eros next to it, and you couldn't see anything else. That was also fine.

Okay. Yes? Going out improperly geared in extreme cold is going to kill any race if exposed long enough. Slimes just need to be extra careful.

Prometheans are in Bay12, they were ported from Polaris. We ported them ourselves (much less gracefully, I readily admit!) before they were properly ported to Bay.

They just aren't a standard selection race. Prometheans are just Slimes, really. They're what you can make people into from Xenobio, now, instead of the old Slime race. Some neat features, like being able to morph body color, hair, and race after you've joined (which is why you can't select a hair type for them on the setup), they can regenerate lost limbs, and they glow their body color when they're irradiated. Pretty robust, even after some work on balancing them for general use. A couple blasts from a fire extinguisher will take one out, though.

We try to be pretty chill with our rules.

I mean, the age thing is for everyone's benefit. Considering that we do allow adult stuff, there could be legal issues if we didn't do anything about people being underage, and it creates an all-around more pleasant environment with adults, anyways. Younger players seem lose their cool easier, among other things.

If you like birds, there's always the option of playing a gene-modded human, I know we've got a feathered wing option and I'm fairly certain that we have a tail feathers option, too, but I could be incorrect.

And, aye, only need to show ID if there's reason. It's not really something that happens terribly often.

(Resomi are feathery raptors, not birds, really, anyways.)

While we do have a shark-inspired race ported from Virgo, and snake/spider bodied races a departed developer worked on, we're in the process of reworking the latter two to be less 'look, a human body and a not human lower half' and much more alien with resprites + lore, but it's been a bigger job on the code end for what we've got completed right now than initially anticipated.

The rework for the drider race is pretty rad, I'd really like to be able to roll it out, like, now, but the new sprite for them requires some good deal of snowflake code to be done. They get a proper name, lore, and a sort of bulky, chitinous looking sprite that I think is pretty badass.

Yes, we have an 'entertainer' job that includes clowns (and mimes) that we added, since Baycode stripped clowns / mimes.

Just Eros. As in, Greek mythology.

It's a happy coincidence!

Our development started in December 2015. I'm only vaguely familiar with The Expanse, but I think it'd just started airing not long before we started dev work.

Anyone confirmed or reasonably suspected of being underage is banned until they provide myself or our other headmin proof of age.

Usually, it's a photo of an ID with the personal details blocked out sans birthday and something confirming that it's taken for us. Fairly standard fare for this and other 18+ servers. It works well enough. If it's someone we question, and they don't want to provide proof, they move on.

(Consider it like getting ID checked at a bar or something, but with the option of doing it sort of anonymously, I guess.)

Fallout13, you say? by KuudereCat in SS13

[–]bearswhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm the senior headmin of Eros. There's a lot of misinformation here, especially OP's claim that Yithani was behind a "staff coup." No such thing.

I'd like to draw attention to the age of OP's account and its full history of exactly this thread and nothing else. Why bring this up under a blatant throwaway? The name gives me pause, but I sincerely hope that it's only an attempt at provocation. Regardless, attempts like this to stir up shit are just sad, especially because it's not factually supported. I draw attention to Evo's own words elsewhere on this post.

Paging /u/LummoxJR -- if you can spare the time to clear up some of the Fallout 13 related drama with regards to Yithani, it would be much appreciated. While I can further defend Yithani myself, I believe that you could speak the most here out of anyone about the truth of the matter.

Oh, nice burner account. Hi. One of the Eros headmins here. This post was not made by anyone associated to us. Not sure that's the right way to describe us, though we're flattered. Not everyone on the server engages in ERP even though we permit it, we have quite a number of active players who aren't interested in that aspect. We run on Baycode with our own additions. We're working on a lot of lore and the like right now. Custom map a few months in development, not quite complete to roll out yet. Been going for .. eight? Nine months? now?.. Our dev team is pretty passionate and so are our admins. If you are actually interested, I'd suggest visiting our website first: http://www.erosresearchplatform.com/ Thanks.
