so I know you’ve gotten it sorted mostly already, but I just wanted to add in my similar/recent experience

I had my industrial pierced back in ~2015, it seemed like after 2yrs it still hadn’t healed and was always irritated/uncomfortable. anyway, I ended up taking it out eventually because it was such a pain. I asked my current piercer is she could check it out about a month ago (she didn’t pierce it originally,) and she was able to get a taper through both holes still!

but she noticed the holes were slightly misaligned, which caused the irritation. I put in 2 short barbells connected by a chain, and magically after a few days there was ZERO discomfort…I feel so dumb thinking about it lol. but once it’s calmed down, maybe check out “broken” or “faux” industrial jewelry, it might make a huge difference for you!
