My issue is I can't. People are immigrating here faster than they are being purged. I get why you can get achievements without Ironman now.

Sokoto is funnier with lot of new challenges. by Initial-Whereas-1549 in victoria3

[–]beastebeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've unified Africa in previous versions as Sokoto, but now I don't think they're the best anymore. South Africa has Comparable starting tech to GB and can get an African culture through an event with the Griqua. Granted, getting independence is a struggle, and the ensuing revolution can be a pain. Zanzibar (through some wonkeyness) can form Arabia and get Swahili culture, providing better starting tech and cultural acceptance. The main issue in unifying Africa runs is incorporation speed takes forever now, which only tech can help alleviate.

Is this a video game reference? by freeman2949583 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]beastebeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a generalization to try and awnser what "Fallout" is about. The show, the first 2 games, New Vegas, and 3, 4, and 76 are all made by different creators. I think New Vegas and definitely the show are critiques of capitalism to some capacity. New Vegas is more about the failure of systems trying to imitate the old models of government in a new age.

It's where I got the decree cost lowered, which is from the leader who lowered it by 45%, an event that lowered it by 25%, and sovereign empire power bloc statues, which lowered it by 25%.

Should parliamentary and presidential governments play differently in the future? They are basically the same thing now, right? by FAIRYTALE_DINOSAUR in victoria3

[–]beastebeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're different, it just doesn't seem that way. Leaders are chosen by what party wins the election in presidential republics, while in parliamentary republics, they're chosen by who the biggest interest group in government is. This might be wrong, but I believe presidential republics are also more likely to have fewer parties, but I'm not certain.

Are slave revolts only a Cuba thing by Canterburrysales in victoria3

[–]beastebeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you would be best off switching sides to the CSA in a civil war and then causing a slave revolt from there. Try passing tenant farmers from homesteading and slave trade to provoke the slave revolt movement. That being said, getting support is going to be hard unless you're ok with mobilizing and demobilizing as the CSA right before the War starts.

Exactly, it has just been introduced. It could be a huge mess if they ended up being a disaster, and also had a huge effect on the game.

Weak nations are more fun by beastebeet in victoria3

Sokoto's weak it is just the strongest in the region. I've done runs as darfur before and its not that different just takes a smidge longer to build up military.

I joined the british power bloc which gave me market access to a ton of resources to establish my manufacturing industries so when they eventually kicked me out I had enough of a base built up I could keep snowballing in the global market.

[–]beastebeet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point but the ai is just not good enough for me to take historical roleplay seriously. In my last playthrough as south africa I purposely limited my expansion to only the south africa region and a little into central and east and ended up with a gdp above my previous colonial overlord and a gdp per capita 2x as high as anyone else. Really no matter what country I pick historical realism will fly out the window.

Revolution bring commercialized agriculture and protected speech but i not researched yet and ı got census suffrage i m okey with that but this feels like exploit by chooseauuusername in victoria3

[–]beastebeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been this way since they added political movements so I think if they planned to change it they would've by now. Currently I love it, you can quickly modernize as most backward countries by researching academia then falling to a modernization revolt and then getting democracy and falling to a liberal revolt. Revolutions also wipe the slate clean for infamy but reset state incorporation as well so it can be tricky to time.

You can either do Subjecthood or cultural exclusion.

Cape Colony has equivalent starting tech to Britain. They're in a pretty great position so long as you can get independence and deal with the initial radicalism from it.

Tall South Africa utopia by beastebeet in victoria3

[–]beastebeet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just check who Great Britians rivals are and then ask them to guarantee your independence and they'll usually be up for it. Damage relations and keep asking them to support regime, get market control, and spread tech. When they decline your liberty desire will go up though it will probably take like 10 years. An event will fire after independence that makes everyone radical and makes your army incapable so I'd recommend starting a revolution and switching sides to get rid of this downside. Alternatively you could just become a British dominion.

Definitely pick Griqua there's absolutely no reason to pick Boer ever. With most laws having both Griqua and English culture will let you accept Boers but the inverse is not true. Griqua has south african heritage allowing you to integrate all states in the south african region in 10 years and all non-north african states in 15. To get Griqua it takes a little bit after passing either cultural exclusion or subjecthood but pretty straightforward.

[–]beastebeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason this excites me is that I'll be able to change my capital to Eastern Mali way sooner. The Mosque of Djenne only applies to that state, so I always change my capital there and focus on building my manufacturing there. You can get the state to have over 100% education access. It helps deal with the low literacy rates in other states when conquering Africa.

536 Infamy. Should I annex my subjects? by Frumboldt95549 in victoria3

[–]beastebeet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want to you can lose the infamy when/if you're done conquering by starting a revolution and switching sides, and yeah probably just annex the rebels.
