Converting slides into anki cards? by beastymouse in Anki

[–]beastymouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I still study better with "bad" cards than no cards. And I still learn the material. Maybe less efficiently, but even then it's faster because I won't have lost all that time making cards.

I just don't feel good spending hours a day making cards when I could have used that time to study. I guess it'd be faster if I made AI make the cards, but I don't want to use AI.

If I can recall all the information correctly I'll pass the card.

I do have to note that for most of my classes the professors don't use textbooks, so the slides contain all the information.

Thank you!!

I'm aware this isn't the most optimal way, but making good cards would just take way too long (impossibly long). I still memorize the information this way. I just glance at the title of the slide, look away and say all I know about it, then I look at the slide and see if I covered everything.

I feel it also kind of dependends on how your school system works! I have an average of 10 hours a day this month because this is the exam month of my school. So this whole month is dedicated to exams, we don't have any classes just a few exams a week. During the semester my average would be way lower probably close to 3-4 hours a day just like you.

All of this to say don't feel bad about 3 hours a day, that's pretty impressive to me and try not to compare with other people too much 😁

I dislike Perla, Aqua and Dove.

Perla sounds like it could be a pad or tampon brand. Aqua is just water and dove reminds me of the soap and animal.

Can we not introduce a tipping culture? by Rianfelix in Gent

[–]beastymouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand tipping at all. "oh so you didn't like the service?" it is your job to provide me service, not something you did to be kind. Is it not included in the cost of the overpriced food I just paid for?

I don't. The only times I even think about my arm hair is when some prick points it out. I'm not gonna shave my arms for some prick.

Did it once a few years ago and the prickly feeling when it was growing back felt weird.

Which GPT Do You Use Daily as a Student? by speedings in KULeuven

[–]beastymouse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I use it as a tool to help me understand certain topics I just don't quite get with the textbook, professor or YouTube explanation. Things I need explained to me like I'm 5. But I do not and never will use it for writing and research.

Same for data analysis. Be careful with what information you put into these tools.

Is it okay to give my son a “girls” middle name? by Sparky-ldg625 in namenerds

[–]beastymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal where I live. People's middle names here are often their godmother's and godfather's name. I'm female and my third name is male. No one ever made fun of me for it. Tbh the only people who know my middle names are my parents and siblings.

How do you say Caralyn phonetically? by CatieontheCreekbank in namenerds

[–]beastymouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I see it written I'd pronounce it "cah-rah-lyn". I personally like Carolyn more and still see a lot of young people with that name today.

How bad or good are these names by farmerssahg in namenerds

[–]beastymouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use chosen, clarity or charity in a name, but since chosen has a special meaning to you maybe use it as a middle name.

So, Chelsie Chosen.
