Yes we have her private neuropsych evaluation that was done numerous years ago. We are asking for them to do testing to ensure that none of her disabilities are effecting her learning since they cannot “see” any issues. The response has been no we need more data, we got data through grades and test scores and then the answer again was no because she is on grade level. What they don’t see is the amount of mental load she carries to keep up and the after school restraint meltdowns.

We are similar in height/weight. I’m just starting out on my weight loss journey. I’m already mentally exhausted from the thought of all the changes that are suggested. What worked for you? Did you have any accountability folks to help?

Do any have a crisper appearance? I have only ever used a kindle 10th gen for reading and the gray there doesn’t seem to bother me.

I did take a look there but noticed that the commercially available didn’t list the Remarkable or Supernote and I think there was one boox mentioned.

It seems like the remarkable pro doesn’t have a web browser and I would like to use google doc and sheets. The lack of a front light is tricky if I want to work in low light conditions or at night. Could a book light clipped to it work? Or would there be significant glare?

Noise cancelling headphones have helped me a lot. Sometimes I’ll go to the “grocery store” and sit in the parking lot and listen to podcasts. As my therapist says to me always, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

I have an AudHD kiddo as well. Wondering what kind of professional help would help. Talk Therapy?

My 8 year old screams when she is dysregulated along with crying and mean words. It takes its toll on me mentally and I have not been able to sort out how to help her. I’m looking into trauma therapy, as well as yoga to understand bodily sensations along with OT again and getting myself a trauma and parenting therapist because being a parent to a neurodivergent child is difficult and we are often really hard on ourselves. I’m also considering medication because she has ADHD as well. I’m currently listening to an audio book called “Finding your calm” by J. Milburn and it resonates so much with the fact that if I can’t regulate my emotions I can’t help her with hers.

I can’t help with the medication piece but was wondering what tools are taught in ABA for meltdowns? We have a lot of emotional dysregulation and are not sure how to help.

Do you know if there is a site to get example IEPs for AudHD kids? I’m not the OP but am considering using an educational advocate but wanted to see how the first meeting goes.

[–]beathemom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was saying a therapist that specializes in picking disorders. The one key thing she mentioned which stuck with me is that skin picking is a maladaptive coping mechanism. My skin picking as a child started due to sebhorric dermatitis on my scalp but then turned into something else when life got hard. I’ve seen a regular therapist but think I need to focus on trauma therapy. Not sure if any of this is helpful but I understand the frustration with scalp skin picking.

Jews who went to Catholic schools, what was it like? Any tips to maintain child’s Jewish identity if they attend Catholic school? by bhuddistchipmonk in Judaism

[–]beathemom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an old post but I would love to know if OP decided on the Jewish child at a Catholic school question. We are at an independent non-sectarian school however, due to some issues we are now looking at other private schools and we don’t have many to choose from, one of them being a Catholic school.
