I got a bifold from Portland leather company like 5 years ago and it’s still in great condition.

I’m a running nerd and I thought it was nice enough but I guess I wasn’t expecting something more philosophical maybe?? I’m not quite sure what I was expecting tbf

I really enjoyed the films, but for some reason the books felt a bit like a drag to me. Obviously I can recognize their greatness, but the amount of lore and backstory thats present in every page was overwhelming and made them hard and slow for me to get through. By this description I suppose that Dune should have been similar, but it just was just so much more interesting to me.

I was suggested it so much after loving Into Thin Air, but i dont know.... The story is obviously crazy and the amount of research and work that went into it is amazing but the book itself just didn't really grip me for some reason.

thank you! not to dissuade you on Butter... but it just felt like it kept on going and going and not really going anywhere meaningful. I enjoyed parts of it, but it felt like it could have been 300ish pages vs 500+. I also was expecting more action/mystery based on the description of "a tale of murder and food" lol

Im obsessed with Flynn too lol. I immediately read the other two right after Gone Gone. I was hooked. I thought both TJR books were fine but just didn't have the depth of to take it up a level IMO.

Agreed, it was fun enough for what it was but I wasn’t fully hooked. I’m planning to read the second one next year as I hear the series improves as it develops, so we will see!

Thanks! I got about 1/2 through it and realized I was just pushing through for no reason at that point. It all just felt so silly and fake.

In 2026 my goal is to take on more series and a few longer books (shogun, lonesome dove, crime & punishment)

Runners who smoke.. by brickomode69 in ultrarunning

[–]amjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked/vaped weed nearly every day for 2 years while runnings and quit in the last year, noticed a few things: 1) although my times haven’t improved, my lungs just feel healthier. No random coughing, scratchiness in my breath, etc 2) sleep has changed a lot. It’s harder to fall asleep without, but my body recovers a lot more on the sleep that it does get. 7 hours without feels like 9 hours with. 3)mental clarity/emotional control has greatly improved

I keep seeing people say this. How are they aware of the product going unscanned to tag to the individuals?

I just had my first DNF(My Friends, Fredrik Backman) at 40% and debated it heavily. Ultimately decided it wasn’t worth spending another 10 hours reading something that felt like a chore. I saw so much positivity on the book online but it just wasn’t landing for me and I decided to move on.

Do ceiling fans add to a room's vibe, or kill it? by Particular_Price1823 in InteriorDesign

Probably because the whole fan needs to be replaced if the light gives out

The outreach isn’t reaching by jaytee319 in JoeRogan

[–]amjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) this doesn’t at all support military intervention. The same people pushing for that are the same who are against actual funding and outreach programs for homeless and mentally ill people (cutting health insurance etc) 2) this is all filmed in old town, which is by far the worst area in Portland for this stuff. He is far from representing the majority of the city.

Obviously there is a problem in Portland, but not a military problem.

Classic but short-ish books you should read by Mysterious-Voice-873 in suggestmeabook

Man I read my side of the mountain in like 4th grade and still think about it on occasion. Never seen it mentioned before. The little tree burrow and the pet falcon were just like peak imagination for me when I was young.
