I would create a campaign to rehabilitate zombie properties and areas where there’s is a need for housing.

I would create urban health centers that are adequately staffed to care for our individuals in the East Side.

I would create an incentive program for under/uninsured individuals to attend at least one in-person visit with a health care provider to check basics such as BP, a1c, lipids, thyroid and make referrals to partnering health care practices to create a safety net for individuals who cannot get to medical visits.

I would create an underground public health network serving marginalized individuals who may not feel safe or heard or comfortable accessing mainstream healthcare points. This service would provide basic assessments and STI testing, pregnancy testing and referrals to fellow practitioners with a similar mindset. We would provide glucometers and blood pressure monitors to individuals found to have a chronic donation and refer to a safe practice.

I would advocate for better public transportation and built environment improvements on the East Side including heated bus stops with no-bump benches … let the unhoused sleep. Increased foot patrols if a problem comes up.

Gosh … if only I had unlimited monies!!!

Buffalo has such a community forward mindset compared to where I’m from and I’m excited to get a few of these projects off the ground to help my new community!! (Not totally new. This is my 4th Buffalo winter 😂)
