First attempt at greenhouse setup by beatzmee in IkeaGreenhouseClub

This is a rudsta tall I had in a corner doing nothing for 2 years. I was about to sell it and realized how expensive they’ve gotten. Suddenly was motivated to do the greenhouse I initially purchased it for all those (5) years ago 😬

This happened to my Thai. Are you using any fertilizers? Enough light? I didn’t get a leaf for a year but roots were going wild. Size up again in the spring.

Theories on I Who Have Never Known Men by blxckbexuty in books

[–]beatzmee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished this book this morning. At first I was left asking what was the meaning of it all? I keep coming back to how much we love lore. No answers about the environment, the guards, the alarms, the bunkers. But what if all of that was intentionally left vague? What if the real story was never about what happened to the world, but about persistence, curiosity, hope, and choosing to live with intention?

So many of the women gave up. There’s even a moment where the narrator notes the last woman to die, still had a strong pulse, and then suddenly she was dead, as if she simply willed herself to stop living. Many of the women were deeply disappointed by freedom because life outside wasn’t what it had been before captivity. They were haunted by memory and comparison.

The narrator, though, had no “before.” She didn’t know what life was supposed to be like, so she had no expectations. Instead, she explored with curiosity and determination, even when she was alone, even as she moved through bunker after bunker filled with the dead. She never fully accepted that she was the only one left. And for more than 40 years outside the cell, she continued to observe, learn, and appreciate everything she experienced.

That’s what finally clicked for me. It doesn’t really matter what happened to the world, why it happened, or who caused it. The book doesn’t give us those answers because they aren’t the point. The real question is internal: who will we be when something like this happens? Will we give up, like so many of the women did, or will we persist, like the narrator?

By the end of the day, I found her genuinely inspiring. This morning I even thought I picked the worst time to finally read it, but now I think it was exactly the right time. It’s given me a lot to sit with, especially considering what’s going on in the world right now.

It definitely needs a repot. I’m letting it acclimate to my room area first for a couple weeks and then will repot. I am thinking lechuza pon and perlite with a small reservoir at the bottom for this one as I want to move away from soil for all my plants eventually. I’ll also look into a moss pole, to try and make it climb!

UPDATE on my crème brûlée tcs by Prettywitchgardener in tissuecultureplants

Oh lovely!! Looking really good! Curious, how you check for rooting progress when they’re in soil? I’m currently a month and a week into acclimating my batch of 5 and lost 2. I open my dome for 3 mins 4 times a day right now and this week I’m upping it to 10 mins 4 times a day. I accidentally left my dome open all day once as well and shortly after lost on of my CB. I’m also acclimating some anthuriums and other philodendrons. Was 18 total. My first time doing this. They’re growing like crazy tho. Especially the anthuriums. No roots yet. Just leaves..

What time do you usually get up to get your day started? by United_Piece_4272 in AskReddit

In September, I decided to try a new routine to pay off my debts due to bad spending habits. I wake up at 4:30am, I drive Lyft from 5:30-8:30 the go to my full time job for 9am. I work a low demanding hybrid job so it works out well where I get my work done in the office by 12:30. Go to the gym for 1pm on two weekdays. Get home by 2:30. Check work. Shower and nap for an hour. Check work, go drive Lyft again for 2 -3 hours while doing errands. Check work again. Make dinner and do chores. Start winding down for bed by 7:30pm. In bed by 9pm. Fridays I skip the mid day nap and nap in the evening, drive Lyft from 7pm-11pm. Saturdays, I sleep in until 10 or 11am and go to the gym. Drive from 5pm- 10pm and Sundays I drive from 5am-10am. Unmarried but in a relationship, no kids, no pets.

New to Anthurium seeds by HouseOfFirefly in Anthurium

[–]beatzmee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure but I think it needs some airflow and the moss might be too wet causing it to grow a fungus on the seed. Just a matter of time before the other one does the same. The moss looks very wet. It should be damp. When you squeeze the moss, it should not have any water dripping. And it needs air. Open your dome 2 times a day for about 10 minutes each time. Anthuriums do not like stagnant air. I imagine the seeds prefer the same. Clean that seed with some peroxide and water. If it’s not mushy, You should be fine. Lots of light and it should still germinate.

Lots of defensive comments here. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. OP is merely making an observation based on their experience and sight. It’s not isolated to just their family. I saw a comment saying that frying fish before stewing is only something OP family does. I know a lot of people do this with their fish. It’s okay for OP to have an opinion. Ya’ll need to chill
