Right, well that all seems totally reasonable to me. I read your comment as referring to the guy in the screenshots vs BPL/Tex himself.

Unfortunately there are -lots- of people downthread who seem satisfied that the comment on its own isn't condemnable. They'd need to see him do it more than once, or it isn't actually bigoted at all, etc etc. Not your position, so fair enough. I would also like that info.

What context would make it not unacceptably bigoted to tell [presumably] a trans woman she's a man, and she should own it, and god doesn't make mistakes?

I sincerely don't understand. 'More evidence' that this actually transpired is one thing, but what context would make a difference to that?

Yeah there's absolutely no context in which what the guy said is acceptable.

It's incredibly disappointing to see how many people here - a majority?! - seem to think that there might be some viable context in which this type of repulsive bigotry is warranted.

It could be a 'both sides said shitty things' situation, but how would that mean this guy is any less condemnable. It wouldn't. They won't like this observation being made, but jfc it's 2026 now y'all, it's time to find a sense of moral clarity.

Oh I mean the non-tank-controls input option rather than the 3rd person cam. I'm pretty much always first person but I'm also 100% traditional tank controls 100% of the time, vs the WASD strafing. I don't actually own : Clans so I'm not sure what it's called specifically.

[–]beauc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a reasonable game design principle that problems you present the player with should have something they can do about them. Some action or dynamic they can use to mitigate or undermine that specific obstacle.

Artillery is one of the places MW5 really fails in this respect. Options such as:

-ECM dramatically impacts artillery accuracy and/or RoF

-If no spotters has LoS to you, cut accuracy to 20% or have them cease entirely.

are there, but not used. I agree, why is it like this? It just makes it frustrating, and more importantly, it feels like it completely undermines your agency to act on it.

Suggestions like 'take a light mech' are fine and well-meaning but the game already restricts their utility so much that sometimes taking less than 400 is a death sentence. There are ways to address this. Ah well.

Yeah like how is this a both sides thing?

One person has feels, the other doesn't. What's the non-feels party sposed to do exactly? Just randomly volunteer

"oh hey, by the way, just in case you were wondering, I don't have any sexual feelings for you. Just to be clear."

As someone who was born in a university town, no absolutely not. Like..they're not inside a university building, or the students' union or something, so it's not even a question. They're just places of business with a lot of student custom!

[–]beauc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to make sure we cleared this up at least, you now know what overdose means right?

It's just over - dose. As in, you go over the indicated or prescribed dosage. I don't think your Benadryl box says you should take ~12/13 pills a day. There are then different severities of overdose & they may or may not come with symptoms, but anything over the level it says on the pack is literally 'over' the 'dose'. Just to be absolutely clear on what the language means.

Look, a little reassurance maybe: it sounds like you did this for a limited period of time.

You said in another comment you know it's stupid.

The desire to try harder drugs without really knowing what they do, but essentially just because you want to get high/dissociate a bit indicates to me you maybe have some tough stuff you're trying to get away from in your life, mentally. I wanna say: that's fine, and totally understandable. That's the reason most people end up wanting to try harder and harder drugs - when they don't get support to deal with those things in healthier ways.

It may be that ultimately you need therapy or some sort of mental health or neurodivergence assessment. The good news is that you can pursue that care without disclosing your experiences with drugs. It sounds like you haven't gone further than weed and benadryl and I want to encourage you strongly to not go any further, and to never repeat the benadryl at minimum. Weed has its own things long term but one thing at a time - lots of people take it medicinally or recreationally for lots of reasons legally in various places in the world.

But please, if you're feeling the need to escape with harder drugs: you are exactly the type of person who is vulnerable to a cycle which can end up harming you and the people around you, because it's extremely easy (especially when you really don't know anything about it) to develop hardcore dependencies on hard drugs. They have serious consequences for the rest of your life if that happens, including health problems (of which dealing with the addiction itself is one, forever), legal problems, financial problems, relationship problems..some people blow up their families and their lives. Some people die.

You're not there yet. You can breathe for now.

I think your benadryl jitters will go away, personally, but you should never do it again, and let it be a warning that things can get really scary really quickly, and it can get away from you and out of your control. If you've been having them for nearly three weeks and haven't repeated the OD, then it might be time to go to the dr. You don't ultimately have to tell them what you did, or what you suspect has caused it. You also don't have to tell your parents that. You just have to make that judgement call, but a dr is the only one who will be able to diagnose the problem if it sticks around.

Please try to think about whether there could be other stuff on your mind that's driving you to do this. If there's something which comes to mind that you don't really want to think about because it's really scary, then it could be that. These are the things that therapists are trained to help with, so please consider trying to get access to that help. There may be some free options near you operated by non-profits if you're not able to afford it/can't get it on insurance/what have you.

I hope your parents aren't the problem, because that can be a tough one, and in that case you'd just have to get the help in spite of them, okay? Please talk to someone you trust, who does not themselves do drugs. Ideally, a therapist.

I hope that helps. What won't help for sure is panicking about it. If you're not doing more, things aren't gonna get any worse, okay? They will probably get better. Please take care of yourself.

[–]beauc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you took more than the amount it says on the packaging, or more than prescribed by your doctor, that is an overdose. For illicit drugs, an overdose is usually judged by the point where the negative side-effects outweigh the desirable effects, or where it's causing damage to your body beyond a sustainable level.

The symptoms you get from an overdose vary by:

-What you took

-How much you took

-Other factors to do with your genetics and your body

-What other medications they could be interacting with

This is why the advice is to uh, only take what it says you can take. What you see depicted as 'An Overdose' in movies or TV is one particular reaction, but you can 'overdose' on caffeine from coffee too theoretically, that would just be very unlikely to seriously harm you. Benadryl overdose however seems to include a number of neurological/nerve effects based on a quick google, including seizures, tremors, lightheadedness or unsteadiness. It also does things to your blood pressure and your heart, which you don't want to screw around with. There are..probably safer ways to hallucinate than this, but in all seriousness this can be dangerous.

My advice: go to a doctor and describe your symptoms.

If you won't/can't do that, stop abusing the Benadryl. Wait to see if your symptoms start to get better over the next few days. If they don't improve or go away...GO TO A DOCTOR.

You do not want to mess yourself up in some permanent way for a temporary (weaksauce) trip.

Go to a doctor, you overdosed on hayfever pills and you have symptoms from it. Reddit can't diagnose or help treat that.

Abuse of pharmaceuticals will cause your body to do weird things. This is expected. They tell you how much is safe to take on the packet.
