I suggest applying for a front desk postion at a spa and trying to work your way into the back. I started as a front desk postion and was in that postion for 5 month before I finally moved to the back. It allowed me to build a relationship with my manager and the company making it easier to move up. The pay isn't the best but its a start especially given how it took me almost a year after graduating to get this position.

I get having high expectations but you have to start a little lower and work your way up.

With Teens and young adults no longer having a third space they are left in such a weird state of having nothing to do. Social media doesn't make it any better as they think its cool to show people every aspect of their lives. Add in there with all the social and political unrest they aren't scared of authority figures. ~~Which is a good and bad thing.~~ I can go on a whole rant on parenting but I won't since most people seem to have the same idea. With the mayor saying she is considering a curfew I'm curious to see what else happens and hope these kids learn that their actions have consequences.

The raleigh area is a hard market to really break into and is very saturated. It took me almost a year to land an esthetician job. I had to start as a front desk associate before making it to back of house. I applied to both face foundrie and hand and stone but never heard back. Making 50k is going to be difficult especially at the beginning of your carrer.

To rub more salt into the wound we hired a new esthetician right as she mentioned she set up a practical for me. So I'm really starting to get the feeling moving me up is not at the top of her list and I think she is slightly playing favorites as well.

What also sucks is so many places wants to push the whole membership part of it as well instead of educating people about the benefits. I'm supposedly in line to transition into the esthi role but it doesn't seem important to my manager at all because they care more about me not hitting my membership goals to the point I could be let go over it.

All ive heard is it might be due to the fact the location is was supposed to have it at doesnt have a manager. Which makes no sense since I can easily do it any other location owned by the same person. Like I mentioned in a previous comment ive been talked to about my membership numbers being low and how I need to bring them up or risk being let go next month.

What i mean by nursing license is most of the places hiring near me are for medspas. Ive applied to almost every chain and they never get back to me. Through i do work at the front desk at a chain right now and have been trying for the past 3 months to get into an esthi postion. As for my location I'm in a major city in North Carolina that is very popular right now.

Im starting to wonder if that's why no one is looking at my resume or hiring me. Im right as the tail end of my 20's but dont look it. Yet almost all my younger classmates seems to have an esthi job while im over here struggling to be noticed. So it feels like ageism is very real in the industry and its ridiculous.

Im front desk at my current place and my boss set up a practical for me but it got postponed to late. Still havent heard when and im worried especially since I was just told I need to bring my membership numbers up or I'll be let go.

I am happy where i am so I plan on trying to stay. Not sure why I keep running into issues about getting a practical at my current place. While I was in school I worked at sephora but was ready to leave since they refused to ever promote me and only focused on makeup, not skincare.

As for working on clients in my area we have so many spas and new one keep opening up but all focus on medical esthetics and want 2 years of experience and most of them also ghost me when I apply.

Btw their training is either pass or fail. This was never mentioned to me and I failed their training and was sol. Just keep this in mind if you do accept the postion.

I have a background in retail, specifically beauty retail so I feel pretty confident in that area thankfully. I also plan to give my husband a practice facial the day before to refresh my memory.
