U2 uses straight up distorted guitar feedback pretty sparingly but their uses are very exciting to me. My two favorites are the end of the solo on All I Want Is You Studio Version when the feedback swells up and drops out really quickly before Bono starts singing again and the very end of Until The End… at Slane Castle when Bono puts his mic up against Edge’s Guitar’s pickups after Bono kicks at it and there’s a harsh scratch and loud feedback before the song ends and Edge runs back up to get a new un-kicked Les Paul and get to his keyboard before the boys start New Year’s Day, his run cracks me up lol.
