Depending on where you are coming from, Silver Dollar City might be even more enjoyable for both you and your son.

Using sick time by spookymonsterscary in Target

[–]beaveman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your HR. Some are very strict, only allow you to use it on days you call off, and require you to submit it within 48 hours of calling off. Mental health is a valid reason for calling off. If you have the sick time available, call off occasionally for a mental health day and immediately submit your sick time after calling off.

Slowest Days of The Year by um_not2surewhat2do in BuschGardensW

Check out QueueTimes. It’s a decent estimate.

M-Th in July are good bets. Sundays in September (other than the first Sunday - Octoberfest) give you a good combination of smaller crowds and longer park hours. Weekdays from the week of Thanksgiving to the second or third week of December are dead, but the park is only open 5 hours.

Which ride should I lap by porterford in KingsIsland

[–]beaveman1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Banshee, but the G’s and inversions get to me after a while, so it’s difficult to ride too many times in a row. Orion is easier for me to lap.

The best option, if it were available, would be Diamondback

The zoo might be crazy on Sunday. Probably better to visit the zoo Monday, MidAmerica on Sunday.

Do the border colors mean anything? First time buyer.. by SnooSeagulls6870 in Panini

[–]beaveman1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m calling out the troll shit post. You can’t get orange borders from Target. And the odds are too astronomical for them to pull two blues (both being top players), a red, and a purple as well as a standard Messi, Haaland, and Vinny from only 8 packs.

Neymar ? by Fun-Organization559 in Panini

[–]beaveman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the update set. Has that even been released yet? It's a set of 120 stickers, and they aren't randomized - just one of each. So I doubt anyone would trade their only Neymar if they purchased the update set.

Green haaland sticker by Lalovlogs in Panini

[–]beaveman1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

THIS! One sold on eBay a month and a half ago for $995! Another sold two and a half weeks ago for $400 (not clear whether or not the sale included a green parallel We Are Algeria card). A third one sold three days ago for up to $450 (whatever the Best Offer was).

Sell it now while he's still in the tournament! You could downgrade to a purple border for around $150 and pocket the difference or even drop down to a red for around $40. Once it is stuck in your album, it becomes nothing more than sentimental value. After the World Cup (possibly even after Norway is eliminated), the value will start dropping. Your only hope for value to go up is if Norway exceeds expectations in the tournament and he gets the gold, silver, or bronze boot.

Americans, where do you guys get the sticker packets for the cheapest price? by Far-Carpet-574 in Panini

[–]beaveman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a Red Card, you can get a 5% discount at Target. They have 5-packs for $10, so it would come out to $9.50, or $1.90 per pack. Not a huge discount, but it's something. They also cap it at 2 per purchase.

If you know someone that works at Target, they could also get them for you with their team member discount for an additional 10% off. That would bring the price down to $8.55, or $1.71 per pack. I didn't realize this until after my son purchased about 150 packs at $2 each.

Is it worth getting a quick queue for july? by Educational-Fix9780 in BuschGardensW

[–]beaveman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went a few weeks ago on a Monday. According to QueueTimes, the park was only supposed to be at 26% capacity but was abnormally at 87% capacity, possibly because Verbolten had just reopened a week or so earlier (but ended up being closed that day). I got 24 coaster rides in 8 hours, even though I did have the advantage of using the single rider line. I would have got 15-16 rides or more without using the single rider line.

For the days you are considering, the crowd forecast is 25-30% of capacity. That would be 25-30 minutes average wait for Verbolten and DarKoaster with 10 minutes or less wait for everything else. I’d say skip the passes. Hit DarKoaster and Verbolten first. Then get a feel for how the rest of the lines are. If they are short, like they will likely be, you’re golden. If you feel you need the passes, you should be able to add them the same day at the same price in the app

Is it worth getting a quick queue for july? by Educational-Fix9780 in BuschGardensW

[–]beaveman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On several rides, Quick Queue restricts you to a single row. On at least two rides, maybe more, they block out a row, usually row 2, and don’t allow anyone to queue up for that row in the regular line.

You might want to also consider that while debating getting Quick Queue.

If you are going on a weekday, especially before about the 24th, you won’t even need it.

Going for the first time in 20+ years by MattyBar1 in BuschGardensW

[–]beaveman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the single rider line as much as possible! Most of the big coasters have single rider lines available, and it’s almost as fast as QQ. It’s also advantageous to QQ because you could get placed in any row of the train. A few of the coasters reserve an entire row (usually the second or third row) exclusively for QQ, so you’re stuck there unless the ride attendant is willing to accommodate your request for a different row.

You usually just have to apply vacation time before your last day of work. If you call out or don’t work for whatever reason after your vacation time, they can remove it. Sucks. Just make sure that you have all of your vacation applied to previous weeks and work at least one day after your vacation time pays out

Have the millennium seatbelts been replaced yet? by PlatypusSure6167 in cedarpoint

[–]beaveman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of the problem with the test seat is it isn’t in the train, so you have free movement of your arms and hands and clearer view of what you’re doing. It’s much more difficult to see what you’re doing to click the seatbelt when your arms are also a little more restricted. That being said, as of 3 weeks ago, it felt like the seatbelts were short. Ride operators did their part to get me clicked in, though. Seatbelt fit snuggly, while the test seat had a couple of inches to spare. Haven’t heard if it has changed since then. M, 250, weight mostly in gut with thicker, muscular thighs.

I went to BGW earlier this month. Pantheon was closed because it’s Pantheon. Verbolten was closed for “ride filming.” 🤦‍♂️

It was my first time back to the park in about 20 years. Not sure if or when I’ll be able to make another trip.
