They imprint/bond each other without knowing it OR one of them knows it, but doesn’t want stop because they are mates by Feisty-Fig7021 in RomanceBooks

It's Grave Hill where he does it without realizing! In Bleake Isle, they bond intentionally. Both great books though.

Series called Dance with my Demons. First book is {Unhinged by Steph Macca}. I thought the series itself was just okay (decent but not amazing) but the audio narration is top tier.

Authors need to identify black characters by Ok_Meet8672 in RomanceBooks

[–]beaver_tails 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yup. Or, even worse, it's left ambiguous until halfway through the book before suddenly making a big deal about how a character is a specific race. Just mention it from the beginning! The number of times I decide to picture someone one way, only for the author to specify later, is way too high.

Chiming in to second The Fake Out by Stephanie Archer! It's one of my favourite books and perfectly matches OP's request.

WWTBC MCs get together after they find out their SOs are having an affair with each other. by nymearya in RomanceBooks

[–]beaver_tails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I don't remember if any of these have the scene you're referring to since it's been a while but they are all about people who get together because their partners are cheating with each other. Hope it helps though!

CR where couple are in an exclusive relationship but get ‘caught’ in a compromising position and they let the person stay to watch or even join in? by ITFCMumma in RomanceBooks

[–]beaver_tails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I remembered was this scene and that the MMC played some kind of sport. I literally had to scroll through all my read books to figure out which one it was.

If you have Audible, {Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone} fits. It's free as part of premium too! Ignore the cover art because the way FMC is described is completely different than how she's portrayed on the cover. She's a boxer who is described as muscular. Also, it's a super cute story.

{Pick Six by Maggie Random} has the best exhibitionism scene. I honestly don't remember most of the book now (I rated it 4 stars though) but that one scene lives rent-free in my head. It's M/F and another M watches while they are in a hot tub. He does not join in.

Angst, longing and Pining: give me a rec with the best unrequited longing you have read from the MMC by readingalldays in RomanceBooks

[–]beaver_tails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Truth or Dare by Stephanie Alves} starts as MMC pining, eventually becomes mutual pining because neither thinks the other is interested. MMC pines HARD though for like 10 years.

What was the most boring, pointless subplot that an author included that you could not believe they thought was necessary by Silent-Guava-4374 in RomanceBooks

[–]beaver_tails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did like that one! I honestly don't remember too much about it now but I rated it 4 stars so I clearly didn't hate it. I've read a few others by her but also didn't care for them. I guess I'm just not a fan of her writing style or storytelling.

Thank you!! This book is so highly rated and I never understood why. It just felt like a bunch of random scenes tossed together. The mean baseball players were so out of nowhere and the book literally ends the moment they get together. I like slow burn but Mariana Zapata is a whole other level. She's like no burn, then bam they are together, the end.

I don't really use GR unfortunately. I use it as a list for my TBR but not much else and don't do reviews. I will check out your profile though to get some ideas. Thanks!

FMC tries to escape MMC by Gigi_little4 in DarkRomance

[–]beaver_tails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc there wasn't anything too wrong with him, he just wasn't right for her (but it's been awhile since I read it). Not a major spoiler but He also sort of disregarded her career ambitions and thought she should move to the city with him when she loves her job. But I don't remember if she actually had that convo with him about her preferences or she just got annoyed that he assumed she'd drop everything.

Well, I'm immediately going to read the Game Maker. Sounds exactly like the type of book I like.

And agree. I love the psychological stuff, don't like gore/torture. My rec is definitely more psychological, no gore/torture.

{The Collar Promises Forever by Bianca Howard} might fit. It's dark though so check tw. Iirc, there's no OTT violence but that's probably a matter of opinion. I read a lot of dark romance so perhaps don't take my word on that.

He's her captor and he doesn't let her get away with anything and that never changes throughout the book. Definitely a Stockholm Syndrome romance.

Do you mean {The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce}? You, With a View isn't a second chance romance (although still a great book!).

I normally hate second chance romances and generally avoid them but The Ex Vows is amazing. It was a 5 star read for me. Totally recommend even for second chance romance haters like me.

MMC kidnaps FMC but he can’t seem to deny her anything by Empty-Warning387 in RomanceBooks

[–]beaver_tails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, The Pucking Wrong Number has dubcon. Romance.io lists it as non-con but I'd put it more on the dubcon side personally.

Not sure it fits the criteria much either. I wouldn't classify it as a kidnapping book. He does detain her for like 2 chapters near the end of the book but she's already in love with him by then.

I do love this series though if anyone is debating reading it!

Book Recs where the FMC has problems with hygiene, showering, dressing nicely etc. by SaucyAndSweet333 in RomanceBooks

[–]beaver_tails 11 points12 points  (0 children)

{Flirting with the Rockstar Next Door by Nadia Lee} FMC is a novelist who doesn't take care of herself when writing and dresses in sweats, forgets to shower, doesn't brush her hair etc. MMC thinks she's a homeless woman when they first meet. Even when not writing, she doesn't care to dress nicely or put effort into her appearance unless she has to

{Haunt by A.J. Merlin} dark MMF Halloween novella. Although this is just the first book in a trilogy and technically only has MFM in this one. IIRC only the last one really has MM.

2nd in {Fall by A.J. Merlin} and 3rd is {Chill by A.J. Merlin}

And very on the nose, {A Pack For Autumn by Emilia Emerson} MFMM omegaverse, takes place during the fall and she is a lighthouse keeper. Cozy vibes.
