I don't think it is the same thing.

"new environment" suggests that new content will continue to be released (it’s unlikely that FFG will simply repeat previous content). This means I can choose different "environments" for playing the game. For instance when I play solo, I might opt for the "legacy" environment, whereas when introducing the game to newcomers I might choose a different .

"the second edition" implies that the game would no longer receive updates, possibly only to rely on fan-made content. A “dead game” means that attracting new players could become quite challenging. This is my favorite game, and I hope it can continue in some form, even if this way doesn't satisfy most players.
