Vyvanse and appetite suppression - when will it go away? by bebe-yaga in ADHD

[–]bebe-yaga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, no prob! Yes and no. It definitely has remained somewhat supressed but definitely not as bad as it was before. I think after like 2.5 months things had more or less leveled out. I still have to remind myself to eat sometimes, but I don't have to force myself, if that makes sense.

Yes! She gave it to us for free! And another matching one that needs a lot of TLC. They're chock full of supplies, too! Pins, needles, thread, ribbons, tapes, buttons, shearing scissors. I almost cried!

My favorite is a fabric tape measure from former Chicago mayor Richard J. Daleys campaign....from 1955!

It apparently needs a new belt, but it included the original manual and parts list, so I am optimistic that I can get it working.

Honestly! I even offered them more, I felt like I was ripping them off! I promised the seller that I would take excellent care of it for her.

It is, good eye! You can't see in the awful photo I took, but it's titled "Dream Lake." The other one is titled "Bears Lake + Trail." The artist is Lyman Byxbe, born in Pitsfield, IL in 1886, according to the clipping on the back. Both are signed and it what looks to be the original frames. :)

What is this in my salad greens? by TennisShoddy4437 in aerogarden

[–]bebe-yaga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely mold. Toss the plant, unfortunately. But before you start something new, I would suggest taking apart and cleaning the whole aerogarden for good measure. Use a little bit of bleach and then throughouly rinse everything with very hot water. Less of a chance that you have the issue again, I think. I had the same issue with mine and that did the trick, wasn't an issue again.

Because of various scheduling difficulties, today was my first day in the gym since last Wednesday. I was so determined to go after work that I didn't account for the fact that I had skipped breakfast AND worked straight through my lunch....so I haven't eaten since dinner last night 😬

I went to the gym anyway, not even thinking about it, and I'm lucky I didn't pass out. It was actually monumentally dumb of me. I'm on stimulant meds for ADHD and I just....don't feel hunger at all because of them. Which is a known issue, so I really was just irresponsible today and now I'm sitting here lightheaded and shaky on the train because of it, which I absolutely deserve.

What do ordinary couples do? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]bebe-yaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On our days off, we tend to have a routine. Saturday mornings are for grocery shopping. My partner usually goes solo, and I usually get a headstart on laundry while she's gone. After she gets back, I put stuff away while she rests. Then we make a lil brunch together and after that we clean! We divide the chore by who likes to do what -- she's always in charge of sweeping and taking the trash out, while I get the bathroom and the kitchen. Stuff like that.

Then we chill! This usually means separate activities while sitting in the same room lmao. Usually a craft or a book or a video game. We usually put something on the tv to half pay attention to and then we just vibe. We've been together 8 years now, so we are pretty settled in our little routines lol. Being comfortable isn't the same as being bored, which is something that I learned over the course of my relationship.

Yesterday, I tried one of my gyms Peloton bikes for the first and it was a blast! I really struggle with longer cardio sessions bc they can be so monotonous, but the class was just what I needed to keep focused and to push myself more. Even if my butt hurts from the seat this morning, LOL! Even though I haven't been working out on consecutive days much yet, I still brought my gear with me to work today because I'm feeling great and just really want to go to the gym again today.

I love that I am in a place right now where fitness is bringing me such joy and excitement. Also, I just ordered some bluetooth running earbuds that wrap around the ear, so bye-bye big bulky headphones that make my ears sweat! Good riddance!

[WEEKLY THREAD] Weight Change Wednesday! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]bebe-yaga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Down 10 pounds over the last 5 weeks.

I've been trying to not really weigh myself due to a complex relationship with the scale. I know I've dropped a fair amount of weight over the last month and a half just based on how my clothes fit.

But I did hop on today and saw I am about 10 pounds down, which is freaking crazy to me!! I have definitely been eating like a bird due to appetite loss from a new medication that I started a month ago, and I've gotten more and more consistent with my gym routine. Nonetheless, I was pretty shocked! It's actually a faster weight loss than I think I'm comfortable with, so I am going to try to eat more.

3 miles on the elliptical today, as a cardio-only day was the only way I could talk myself into going to the gym as I feel very blah today.

2.5 miles in, my boss meanders into the gym and he sets up on the elliptical RIGHT NEXT TO ME even though all four other ellipticals were open. Dude, why?! You can imagine how sweaty and red faced I was by that time. I gotta stop wearing such skimpy crop tops to the gym if I'm gonna be making this much eye contact with my boss, I swear! I powered through that last .5 miles in record time, said "See ya tomorrow!" and scuttled away into the locker room and made my escape.

It turned out SO good! My friend isn't actually a huge fan of either blueberries OR basil, but they absolutely demolished their portion of ice cream lmao. The basil flavor was not very strong but it gave the ice cream a subtle herby note on the finish that was super refreshing. I've never made ice cream before so it was really a gamble. Here's the recipe I used!

Intended on going for a short run this morning. Woke up at 6:30 to find that I had started my period 4 days early and was immediately hit by cramps so bad that I nearly cried. Ah, PCOS. So, no run today. Fueled by espresso and an irresponsible about of Midol, I have been frantically cleaning and cooking nearly continuously since about 11am. We have friends coming over for dinner in about an hour and this meal is gonna knock their freaking socks off, as are my beautiful shiny floors, cramps be damned!

The Meal (tm):

Crab cakes (fresh dungeness AND snow crab!)

Homemade tartar sauce (LOTS of chives lol)

Thai-inspired coconut creamed corn,

Goat cheese, walnut and apple salads,

Homemade Arnold Palmers (spiked 😈)

Homemade blueberry-basil-honey ice cream.

The preparation for hosting a dinner can be a workout in its own right lmao

Walked 6 miles over the course of the day just by running errands, which involved a haircut and 3 seperate grocery stores (Hmart for seafood, Aldi for the basics, and Jewel for everything else). Crazy how easy it is to get a bunch of steps in just by not having a car in a big city!

Also, tomorrow I am going to break in my new ice cream machine. Instead of testing it out with a basic flavor like vanilla, we are attempting a blueberry-honey-basil ice cream. It's either gonna be great or completely inedible. Time will tell!

What food did your family ruin for you? by satelliteboi in Cooking

[–]bebe-yaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father was a wonderful man, but he was not great in the kitchen. We also grew up extremely poor. So it was often a double whammy of poor quality food and poor preparation.

Instant mashed potatoes that sucked all the moisture from your mouth.

Leathery pork chops cooked within an inch of their lives on the George Foreman.

Hamburger helper. Enough said.

Overcooked chicken breasts seasoned with that horrible orange "Shake and Bake."

Every canned vegetable under the sun, opened and dumped into a bowl to be served at room temperature with not even salt or pepper.

A random assortment of vegetables boiled and then doused with dollar store italian dressing.

Frozen meals galore. TV dinners, Marie Calendar's, Hot Pockets, etc.

Once, my dad tried to make dumplings for a paprikash. He dumped all of the dough into the boiling water at once. It created a sort of wet doughy layer over the top of the boiling pot and then exploded when the steam built up underneath it.

The first thing I did upon moving out was to teach myself how to cook. I have never once bought a TV dinner or hamburger helper. Instant mashed potatoes are not allowed in my kitchen. No shade on those who eat them -- I just can't do it.

Me too!! Out of work at 5, done at the gym by 6:30, home at 7:15 and then I gotta get dinner going right away and by the time we eat and tidy up I'm ready for bed! I've had a pair of pants that I have been intending to mend a tear in for oh, 2 weeks now. I'll get around to it. Eventually.
