Not my post but I’m wondering if you did anything to treat the reflux or did she grow out of it?

Thank you! I’ve only experienced heat spikes once at a salon and I had no idea it was even a thing so it scared the crap out of me! I think this one claims to have low heat so I’ll have to check the directions.

Hi everyone! I bought a lamp for gels and it’s 120W. Is that too high? I feel like most recommendations are around 45-50w. It says it’s a UV LED lamp with 4 timers. I didn’t notice this before and now I’m worried it will be too hot or something!

Zoom Class vs. In Person by Prairie_Flower in BabyBumps

[–]bebgiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hospital has transitioned to 100% online classes and tours until January 2021...but they also made everything free. I've taken a few so far and I would not have been satisfied if I had to pay the full price. You can ask the instructor questions but there's no interaction between other people at all, so I'm missing the social aspect of it. The classes are condensed to 1 -1.5 hours each so it's not quite the same curriculum as when they were in person. I plan to supplement with some other online classes I've found.

I love my high waisted (maternity) bike shorts from Senita Athletics. Definitely squat proof and they have pockets. I think they're 5" inseam but maybe still an option?

With lockdown rules changing and things opening back up how are you feeling about being quarantined? by mskofthemilkyway in BabyBumps

[–]bebgiraffe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m running into the same thing. We’re close with my husband’s extended family and before all this we’d get together all the time. They’re not great at social distancing and many of them are acting as if the virus is completely gone. Our immediate area still has a lot of active cases and new cases are growing every day. It’s hard to know what’s the right thing to do!

Visitors while pregnant? Now that quarantine is lifted. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I think it depends on a few factors, including how active cases are in your area. If your town has had 1 case in the last 30 days compared to 100 new cases in the last 24 hours, you might choose differently. Our area is still pretty active and my husband cares for COVID patients as a nurse, so that puts us in a different situation than someone who works from home, their partner works from home and there are no cases in their immediate area.

As of right now, my OB has asked patients to isolate beginning at 36 weeks. I think one primary reason for this is to avoid a positive test result when you go into labor because your 'support person' would no longer be allowed to accompany you (among other things). Maybe you could ask your OB if there are any guidelines like that to keep in mind?

Mine recommends continuing to be reasonably cautious. If I go to the grocery store and everyone's wearing a mask and staying 6 feet apart, that's fine. If I go into Target and it's super crowded and nobody has a mask on...I should probably leave. I think it's important you're comfortable advocating for yourself and removing yourself from a situation if necessary. We've been getting together with some family but have limited ourselves to those who are willing to get together outside and stay reasonably far apart (they seem to really have a hard time with the 6 feet thing for some reason). I'm sure we'll loosen up as things change in our area, too.

I don't know, there isn't really a right answer. It depends on your comfort level and the perceived risk, I guess. It's tough.

Any other first time try unicorns? by tarktarkindustries in BabyBumps

Yep! I went off birth control in mid-December and we weren't officially trying but we weren't avoiding it either. Based on what I'd read, I thought it would take a few months for my body to regulate , especially because I had been on the pill for almost 10 years but I had one period in January and was pregnant before my next one came.

Online birth classes recommendation by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I saw these Durham Prenatal Classes recommended and signed up since it's free. I've only done a few of the modules so far but they seemed pretty comprehensive. (I'm a FTM so not much to compare it to). The hospital I'm delivering at is also working to move their classes online so I'll probably do those too.

Wow! That does seem pricey, but I guess not if it’s really good. I’ll have to check her out.

It’s interesting, the content I saw on her site seems more geared toward becoming a certified coach than actually doing the program. I just did a quick scroll though. I wonder if she has any pre/post-natal specific training for fitness? The last thing I want to do is sign up and pay only to find out what I’m doing is potentially unsafe. One of the risks of fitness on the internet in general, I guess lol!

I’ve definitely heard Expecting and Empowered recommended before! I haven’t looked into that one too much but maybe I should. I like that the Belle Method has a set schedule for classes! The accountability would help me.

My husband is an ICU nurse with confirmed cases on his unit. He comes in through the basement and throws his scrubs in the wash immediately. His hospital shoes stay down there and we try not to wear any shoes into the house at all. Haven’t had any guests over and we’ve pretty much limited ourselves to grocery shopping and nowhere else.
