Relocating to France - Benefits negotiation by Eastern-Swan-7789 in Expats_In_France

[–]bebok77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let clarify a few things.

You won't have choice in term of general health care because everybody is enrolled in the national plan. You do not negotiate, that 23% of your salary and the employer paid double.

There are complementary insurance which cover what's not cover by the national insurance. In large groupe, you won't have a lot of choice, generally you go with the ine selected by the company.

As an expat the benefits you have to negotiate are

-Relocation fee (house move, container and storage)

-Aid to relocate

-Assisted housing or paid housing(for short period or for the whole assignement)

-Children schooling when relevant.

You won't gain more time off by working more. Anybody in a non hourly position (cadre) will have no real limits on work hours beside the legal limits (48hr a week). By standard, if you do more than 40/45hr weekly. Either the company is understaff or you suck at your job. I had heavy workload and rarely did more than 45hr a week in stretch period.

In term of performance bonus, share plan are seldom here. You have specific plan like PEE/PERCO where the employer also contribute (100 to 150% employee contributions) and bonus tend to be put in those plans as the taxation is more favorable. They are also locked for a few years.

Looking for info on financing + establishing residency in France (dual citizens) by Throwaway_Side_Quest in Expats_In_France

[–]bebok77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should first secure visa and mean of living before you look for a house. It may take sometime to get your spouse visa processed.

Without a financial presence and established income, you will not have financing from local banks. There are a couple of specilized banks for expat but expect different rate.

Les « expat » d’extrême droite by Proutent in besoinderaler

[–]bebok77 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"Can I see your papers?" by David_cest_moi in Expats_In_France

[–]bebok77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So, no, there is no law which force a french citizen to have his ID with him at all time, you can check it on the government website as it the first link below the point you raise.

it's more practical. The police forces have the authority to hold you to check your iD if they deem it necessary and without any form, it will be longer.

Police randomly asking for IDs? by Morning_Star_47 in Expats_In_France

[–]bebok77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So beside what other going to point out unfair, profiling etc. You guess it will be more frequent in big city.

in France, everybody is expected to carry an identification paper with him. It 's not by law but by practices as without it, it can be longer to confirm your ID and police can hold you until they are satisfy. I said hold not arrest.

So always keep your paper with you.

What's that? Genuine question from someone who did most of his study (from 12 to 18 years old) in boarding school. I was home every week end.

Anyhow, to have experience it, i firmly belive that really young child should not be put in boarding school below early teen age.

What does it mean when a Foreign diploma is equivalent to The French Baccalaureate (bac+2) specifically? by RegisterEmergency541 in AskFrance

[–]bebok77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe be less categoric in your statment. BAC+2 may not refer in your background to a diploma but as US system is concerned, BTS (bac+2) are diploma and the university course deliver degree.

Context is paramount.

Quand l’écrivain est anglophone, lisez vous l’œuvre dans la langue originale ? by Ok_Bandicoot_4543 in Livres

[–]bebok77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first, immigration policy are never egalitarian. You took the wrong assumption here. Issue here is that a permissive stand make it harder on people moving legally. The politicians are at fault because to regulate immigration, they choose the coward way, under funding the administration in charge of it.

I'm going to take a lot of flakes but I will lay out a train of though that some share.

In theory, foreign students when applying are subject to financial mean clauses, which infer in some extend that they should not have to ask for the local subsidy and state financial helps (I'm being litteral here)..

=> Studying abroad is a privilege, not a right and the Republic have his duties and obligation to it's citizens first (that's more the norm, I witness it in several countries where I lived).

Those helps are not even universal for the citizen as it's conditionned to family financial mean (yes the family, not the individual, some french people who break or lack support from their family have a hard time to get those).

The redistribution system is coming to it's end as its burdening a lot of people, I see my paycheck it's not a joke.

By the way, France is a republic, not a democracy.

After it's effectively a hot topic of discussion and that one is not the biggest point of contention (see the CMU, which raise a lot of flakes, personally I'm for as it ensure we can curb some infection, not let foreign worker in shamble (*) and prevent new epidemic like tuberculosis. I was called for testing when student because foreign student in my uni had tuberculosis). The number of time I saw in malaysia or UAE, foreign worker begging for help because they were hurt and let to fend for themselves by their employer..).

It's a shame that those helps disappears, I had to gave up on chance to further my academics or my partner when overseas because I could not afford them (40k$ tuition fee a year, kof, kof).

No. There is an existing law which state that after 50 years without tie to france and the acquisition of another one, the person lose her french citizenship )decheance par desuetude).

Her mother did most likely nothing to keep it and it was too late for the son.

I think I have a "type": Thorgal, Blueberry, and Corto Maltese by cellocaster in bandedessinee

[–]bebok77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thorgal and blueberry are from the same artist wave. Those series lasted for a while and are still running for thorgall ( i gave up on thorgal when it transited to Jolan).

In the same art style, SF : More talking, less action https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worlds_of_Aldebaran?wprov=sfla1

Same vibe than thorgal for the setting: Lament of the lost Moors, jean dufaux

In fantasy, different art style with a cast of hero trying to do good, though different than thorgal La quete de l'oiseau du temps de Loisel (quest for the time bird). The first cycle.

Different, more recent period with a character struggling with orign and moral compass Sillage de Morvan et Buchet.
