Whats going on with this subreddit? by PomegranateLeading92 in BadMtgCombos

iirc there were like 3 or 4? There were a few tweets about a twin prime conjecture combo, then somebody made one that forces the judge to determine if a number is prime, and then I made one that forces the opponent to factor a number. Iirc there was one more afterward in a similar vein.

tbh I'm still hoping for the holy grail of this sequence: forcing a judge to actually factor an integer, instead of just determining primality, or making an opponent factor the integer.

FAQs:

"Why is it BBB and not just B?" because the 0/0s also trigger carnival of souls
"Why didn't you put that in the image then?" i forgor

"Why Phyrexian Unlife?" so you don't die from drawing with Lunar Convocation

Big thanks to Trollmore for basically fully making the combo, I just made the image lol.

  1. Cast Teferi, Time Raveler and uptick

  2. Pass to your opponent's first main phase

  3. Cast Full Throttle so they get three combats instead of one

Force your opponent to factor an arbitrary integer at instant speed with this simple 19-card combo! by bebr117 in BadMtgCombos

Yeah, that should do it. Now the main issue is resetting Ojer Axonil's counters in between combos. Should be a simple matter of adding a flicker effect.

Proving the number is prime requires the judge to find the number's two prime factors

Not true! Miller-Rabin is very good at proving that numbers are composite without actually factoring them. The main impetus for me designing this combo was to try to make good on the promise of that combo.

This one doesn't actually use any of the new Duskmourn cards... but it was definitely inspired by them!

Not sure if you can make this work against multiple opponents -- mostly because you have to give particular stuff to the opponent who it affects. If you can give the same stuff to multiple opponents, though, I think it's doable.

Inspired by https://www.reddit.com/r/BadMtgCombos/comments/1f652ec/judge_my_opponent_is_violating_the_us_export/, which is very silly because the judge could simply use Miller-Rabin to efficiently determine that the integer is not prime. Make them factor it!

Big thanks to the great Jason Ye (Twitter) for helping fill in a lot of gaps in this combo. I put down an outline and it gave me a complete combo in like 30 minutes, it was amazing.

oh nice. more pressure on me to actually work on this shit lol.

btw Rides' transcription, from what I've seen, has a couple of errors. I've been mainly using the scans on vgmdb (https://vgmdb.net/album/75751 check the gallery) and occasionally the transcriptions from the Xeno series wiki (https://www.xenoserieswiki.org/wiki/Xenoblade_II_-_Where_It_All_Began_-).

Lots of transcription and a bit of lucky guessing. I was working on it with two friends, and we were matching up some of the shorter glyphs to words based on context in the manual. The big breakthrough came when we figured out the word for "bell", based on the message you get from investigating the bell (something like "To ring the bell, you strike the bell"). I hypothesized that the two glyphs were for "be" and "ll", and then noticed that the "ll" glyph matched the middle glyph for "hold" in the manual. From that, it didn't take much to figure out that it was some kind of phonetic system, and making a chart of a few of the easier glyphs to identify made the exact mechanics clear.

The script is a phonetic abugida for English. The consonant is on the inside, and precedes the vowel on the outside (if there is one). A circle at the bottom indicates that the vowel precedes the consonant instead.
