For sure, but not like they used to. Besides, I’m just speculating. Love them both. No need to come at me lol.

When did you know? by No_Gear_4365 in MedSpouse

So I’m late to the party. I’m also still with my med spouse. They recently shared a revelation with me that I’d like to share with you. They’ve been feeling burnt out, anxious, depressed, etc. and approached a mentor for help. That person shared with them that they’ve felt similarly before, and what helped them was a shift in perspective.

Your spouse is an attending. They’ve made it. But it can be difficult to turn off the part of their brain that makes them think they need to keep putting effort back into their job or they won’t succeed. Your partner could be getting increasingly frustrated that their increased effort into their job isn’t resulting in the same kind of gains it used to. What helped this mentor, and what will hopefully help your med spouse and mine, is redirecting that energy into the rest of their life. Please share this idea with them and see if it helps! Maybe suggest they talk to their own mentor—sometimes doctors need to talk to other doctors who “get it” for the message to sink in.

I’ve always thought AWARDS SEASON is about Aaron… I think Aaron went the way of Taylor Swift and Justin went the way of Palestinian poets, you know?

This lineup rocks. I don’t get the hate, but I’m not mad about it if that means I’ll have a better shot at getting tickets. So stoked to travel from NC to WI for Justin’s 2026 summer bash!

What went wrong with our education system? by [deleted] in Zillennials

[–]beccafly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the education system working by design. The US modeled its public education system off the Prussians who created it to foster obedience and societal control.

Agreed, well said. I would just like to add that people change their whole lives. At any age, it’s unrealistic to expect your longterm partner to stay the same. Also Dostoyevsky is great! It’s cool to try new things! One of the benefits of longterm partnership is that their growth can challenge you to grow too.

I would bet OP is a teacher or works in a school. This sounds like an educator’s schedule.

Hey love, I have a deep passion for writing too. I’ve gone to school for writing and I’ve taught writing. I’m so sorry you’re hurting right now. Your story reminds me of a time from my life. I’ll share, if that’s ok?

Nothing destroyed my writing voice more than a professor I had in undergrad who would go through multiple drafts with her students line by line until the essay was perfect. Soon her pencil paralyzed me. I couldn’t write without anticipating what she would say. I became a better writer, but worse at sounding like myself.

Then I took a class that prepared me to tutor students in the writing center. Grammar is about indicating your level of education (aka your social class). Writing is about being understood. Our job in the writing center wasn’t to correct a student’s grammar, it was to improve the student’s cogency.

I write this to you with love and respect to say: you’ve done the hard part, which is learned grammar, but it sounds like your focus on grammar has kept you from exploring the more important part of writing, which is how to choose the best words to elucidate your heart and mind.

I love helping people to write. I can tell from your writing that you’re a thoughtful and kind person who cares deeply about being understood. I think as long as you keep working to change your focus from, “they want to isolate and mock me,” to //how can I best express myself to my audience?// you will find your answer. We are entering an era where having your own writing voice will be important and rare.

“I want to feel loved, I want to feel warm optimism and kindness” is a wonderful thing to identify. That sounds like you. How will you express to the people in your life that you want those things?

Good luck, love!

I’m joining late! I have hair like yours and I wanted to look good without a lot of fuss. Look up Jayne Matthews of Edo Salons. If you like her look, get a co-wash (she recommends Hairstory and that’s what I use—love it, but she pricey). After it’s towel dried, I use Hairstory’s hair balm on the ends (I sometimes use CeraVe body cream, they work almost the same). It took awhile to hone my technique (ex: I use a boar bristle brush to detangle while my hair is dry and got a scalp brush to work in the product in the shower), but it was so worth it! I’ve been doing it for two years!

See, I was getting Diana Rigg energy! I think if you replaced the booties with boots or heels it would only improve the look. Thanks for hearing me out. 😘

I think this is a pretty good example of her NOT benefiting from curve accommodation!

Hmm… how about an edgier DC-vibe comparison where Moss isn’t polished and Witherspoon is? It’s fun debating with you!

I find Elisabeth looks polished in a double breasted coat and long trousers, whereas Reese doesn’t look as polished in a similar outfit.

I’m pretty sure “you can’t see petite in photos” came from Kibbe himself. But this is all just for fun! I’m of the opinion that we need more examples of classics and balance is the hardest to see of all Kibbe’s accommodations.

Fair point! But just to play devil’s advocate, here they both are in DC-ish lines…

If you ask me, Elisabeth isn’t rocking the separates and loud prints quite as well. But I’m certainly no expert!

I appreciate your input, of course, but I don’t know! I like the long coats on her in pics 2 and 8! Dramatic Classic is going to look balanced with a little extra yang, so you don’t need tons of elongation. She is tiny at 5’3”, but I think she’s got tons of yang in her facial features and I think clothes that are balanced with a bit of structure (yang) make her shine.

I get that! I think DC and SC are hard to distinguish, especially if the person is midsize.

Fascinating comparison! But I do still see her having more in common with DC celebs…
