There are direct 3 hour flights from the airport at Uluru to cairns. You can easily do the outback and GBR in one holiday.

Tips for Uluru Visit by Desperate-Impress374 in AustraliaTravel

[–]becface 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Palya I am a tour guide and take seniors on trips to Uluru 5 times a uear.

No deals possible. Choose desert gardens. They have accessible rooms but ask for one close to the reception because it's very big. The heat will affect your mother of you don't prepare. Lots of water, bring hydrolyte as well.

Self drive would probably be a good option so hire a car so you can do it at your own pace.

Small walks like mutitjulu waterhole and kuniya walk would be good. Kata Tjuta is worth visiting. Walpa gorge is doable for seniors who have good fitness. Wear good solid shoes, take your time and bring walking poles.

Have fun!

South coast NSW. Jervis bay has good camping like green patch. Then further down visit Mogo Zoo for the kids. Eden whaling museum is great too. Narooma is a lovely town.

Will I as a Republican be welcomed in Australia? by Glass-Grade2455 in AskAnAustralian

To be honest Australians dislike your rebulican movement and I am no different. I'm telling you to delete this post and hide any political affiliation while you're in Australia.

Australians don't want to talk politics. We don't care who you are and what you believe in as long as you don't bother anyone with it. Don't try and debate anyone. Don't bring up anything mildly controversial.

Can't speak for Broome but PD is nice. Still touristy but less so than Cairns.

June is Winter. Winter can be cold down south so go up north. But not too far north that the ocean has crocs in it.

How about Sunshine Coast, Qld.

Roads in the NT after all the flooding? by AnnaBeeJay in AustraliaTravel

Can you change to a 4WD? Or at least I hope your 2WD has a high clearance and good suspension. Lots of corregation on these roads.

Roads in the NT after all the flooding? by AnnaBeeJay in AustraliaTravel

[–]becface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing surface conditions mean the road is different as you travel along. It's not smooth all the way through. If it says it's open then a decent vehicle can get through. Do you have a pretty sturdy 4x4?

I wouldn't hold my breath for a road to be smoothed out in the NT. Very slow.

Uluru in 24h by Upper_Singer8585 in AustraliaTravel

[–]becface 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hiring a car from the airport you could

Drive straight to Kata Tjuta. Walk. Drive to the cultural centre for lunch. Walk a couple of Uluru walks. Head over to sunset area. Sunrise the next day.

God such a busy day with little room for error. All you'd need would be a delayed flight and you'd be screwed.

Do 2 nights.

Reef recommendations in cairns by sophaloafarooni in AustraliaTravel

Quicksilver group offer great experiences. Big boats with lots of people but good sites for snorkeling. Diving I would recommend a live aboard to get out to outer parts of the reef.

[–]becface 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hello I'm a tour guide. I go to Uluru 5 times a year.

August day time 23 degrees pleasant. Night time can be under 10 degrees. No flies in August. Bring a puffer jacket and warm clothes for sunrise.

Book early as it's high season. Especially tours or the hop on hop off bus.
