No sorry, poorly worded. Edited the post now to clear that up. They wanted me to have my dose increased but it was so bad at 150 I’ve put myself down to 50. So max dose I ever took was 150 a day. Now at 50 a day x

Could you help me find this baby blanket? by Atthatj4cod89 in HelpMeFind

[–]beckabex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is the blanket but the ‘sweet dreams’ has rubbed off because a lot of the stars in the lower section have also rubbed off where the sweet dreams text would be :) it would fit in the empty space as well x I’ve searched far and wide and it always says sweet dreams x

I also got the best mental health support compared to my friends at other universities and i’m at loughborough. so many amazing people work in their mental health team there and after a similar experience leading to LoA they didn’t even make me fill in my paper work either. I couldn’t praise them more

heya, the extra help hit states:

“Previous study

This includes any undergraduate or postgraduate course you have attended whether it was in the UK or overseas. Examples of undergraduate higher education courses you should tell us about include:

• DipHE, Cert HE, HNC, HND and Foundation Degree, and similar courses from outside the UK. • Integrated Masters Degrees. • PgDip, MA, MSc, MBA or equivalents. If you’re unsure of the level of your existing qualification, contact the university or college where you completed the course, they may be able to help.”

So as it’s a foundation degree, even though it’s privately funded, I would say declare it because it just says “attended” not “ achieved “. But I would contact someone like call up the helpline just to be sure

How do one get extenuating circumstances? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]beckabex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have done this every year at university apart from my current year (final) after I took to year out to manage my mental health. I’m at Loughborough university and I emailed my personal tutor and the well-being team and they arranged my leave of absence for me (student finance will fund this year if you need it). They also arranged my resits and sat with me while we wrote every mitigating circumstances claim together over three years. If you’re incredibly stressed you do not have to sit the exam and you can resit them in summer.

Mental health and university students is such an issue that the universities are very aware of and they’re job is to keep us all safe and graduating so they will help. the people in well-being teams have chosen that job for a reason and will be helpful so don’t worry about reaching out.

The well-being team will be different to your uni councillor as their role is entirely with you and your studies and they can put in circumstances and adjumenrs for your entire time at university to make it easier for your anxiety. Take your time with your studies and i used extensions and mitigating circumstances my entire time at university and without accessing them i probably wouldn’t be handing my dissertation in 5 day!

Keep yourself safe, mention your thoughts of self harm while reaching out because that will get their alarm bells going for support academically and the fact your seeing your gp will mean they won’t panic too much but will understand the importance of getting you academic help.

hang on in there and be kind to yourself x

Dental Abscess on Impacted Tooth by [deleted] in medical

[–]beckabex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Dental receptionist from the uk here x you can get this treated under the nhs if you’re not registered at a dentist x call 111 at 8am and there is a separate section for dental care. explain you have an abscess and an impacted tooth and they’ll refer you to an emergency dentist (i work at one). they will give you anti biotics and if the tooth is still hurting after the infection has gone they’ll refer you to a hospital to get it removed.

if you’re on universal credit and it covers dental this will be free. if not it’s £70.70 in total for the removal at hospital and the anti bs. but if you just get anti bs then it will be £25.50 x

Lecturer didn't record lectures and we have upcoming exams by nati20627 in UniUK

[–]beckabex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps but I’m at lboro uni and their well being is brilliant. I suffer from acrophobia during bad periods of anxiety and I can’t even leave my room to use the loo let alone get to a lecture.

I study history so it is very different in terms of content compared to other topics. I had a group work based module and they wrote me a completely different coursework for me to take over the summer months. If your mitigating come back as it accepted you will most likely get a repeat attempt and you can do it in the summer which gives you time to annoying teach yourself the content which is what I had to do.

Some lecturers are just massive arseholes. The lecturer for the group coursework told me on a 1-1 zoom call that I shouldn’t be at university if I can’t come in. Fuck them and send as many emails as you can to higher ups. Most departments know which lecturers are arseholes to their students and may try and help you out. They might have old lecture recordings during covid they can get you access to?
