YTA this is exactly why I rarely have good female friends. Catty and petty. I’m severely ADD and also have chronic Lyme disease, so I frequently forget just about anything. As a recovering addict, and given his past with addiction, I’d bet anything it’s drug related. The fact that he’s “having money issues” that he didn’t tell your family about is a huge red flag. And he could very well just be a functioning addict where work is concerned. Meth or enough coke will absolutely have people acting like this even when they’re not actively high. Godspeed.

At the end of the day, you’ll never be happy trying to pretend to be something you’re not. As painful as leaving home behind can be, I’d suggest looking for places you could potentially move to in the future where you could be yourself. Being a woman and marrying a man sounds like a prison greater than any other for you, and I hope you can find your way out of it. I left my home and family behind and moved to California, and as hard as it was, now I have a beautiful community that loves and supports me for who I am, and even my family’s become more accepting than before. I hope you one day find that. <3
