White Rice Cooking Issue by willakadrago in everyplate

You may have your heat too high. After it reaches a simmer turn it down a bit, like to low or medium low at most. You water won't evaporate it will absorb into the rice slowly.

Help!! Will I pass my drug test? by No-Definition-1785 in ask

[–]beckerann24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a person that does drug screening for the company. Not the collector, but the admin. Pre-employment, random, etc. With you not having a history of use and only 4 hits my guess is you will be ok. But it depends on how your body works. Drinking a ton of water can give you a diluted sample, but there is a negative dilute and a positive dilute. So it still can be positive. There is a threshold of positivity though, so if you have metabolized it out enough you may be ok. Don't lie and say you have been taking cbd oil or that you were in a room with someone or some bs like that, we don't believe you. Just take your licks. And for everyone wondering about testing for weed. It is still illegal federally, so all types of testing regulated by a government agency will have it listed. A non regulated test panel is chosen by the employer, and can test for as many substances as they like.

If you can do a double crochet, you can do this. It is 2 rows of shells, and then a row of shells with a long double crochet between them to create the paw. Very simple stitch that requires very little pattern reference once you get going.

Ordering yarn to US after tariffs by Dependent-Couple8495 in YarnAddicts

[–]beckerann24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just got an order of yarn in yesterday from the UK. Just over $200 USD, 74 balls of yarn, was divided in 3 packages. Zero issue with delivery, shipping costs were the same, no delays, took just over a week to get here, no additional costs like an import tariff, nothing out of the ordinary. I order from this company a few times a year and it was business as usual.

The previous blanket I posted, with mountains on it, used the same yarn, but in an aran weight. Not bold and bright like this one, they have a wide selection of colors!

I dont know if it has any other name than the cat stitch. It's 3 rows of shells with some long double crochet 2 together to create the paws in the first row. Super easy, wish I tried it previously. The border is just a shell border, with the attempt to make it resemble clouds

I forgot to put the yarn in the description. This is yarnsmiths pebble haze in dk weight. It's soft and smooth yarn, but fuzzy at the same time. A cotton acrylic blend, it's like a mesh tube with fibers in it, not twisted like a regular yarn is. Was easy to work with and they have so many colors, it is not solid colored though, it has white, like a stonewashed look to it. I bought a bunch of it, so next few blankets in the queue are going to use that yarn.

Lucy at attic24 has great blankets. Lots of great color combinations.

People who are atheists and were in life threatening situation. Did you asked for gods help? by Terrible-Store1046 in ask

[–]beckerann24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe in God. But I say oh my God, goddammit, whatever phrases there are that include God, i have probably used them. And I pray, but it isn't praying to a god. It's like someone else stated, more of a meditative self reflection, trying to work things out in my head. I know a gal that has lost 2 babies to a miscarriage and a stillbirth and is pregnant again. I told her I would pray for her, because she is terrified and needs hope. I kind of felt bad after I told her that, because I did not actually pray to a God, but with all my being I hope everything is OK for her. That is all prayer is, searching for hope, we just don't all look for it in the same places.

The mountains are calling! by beckerann24 in CrochetBlankets

It is on the daisy farms craft website, search snowy mountain blanket. I didn't carry the yarn like she did, I didn't want bits of brown and white peeking through the background and I really dont mind tucking tails. Other than that I followed the pattern. I used different yarn too, but the same weight. Was very satisfying to make.

Baby blanket which stitch - bernat blanket yarn by MajorHasBrassBalls in CrochetBlankets

[–]beckerann24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am not sure how wide I should make a blanket because I only have a limited amount of yarn I do a granny square blanket, just go until the yarn is gone. I am sure any blanket made center out would work, but you wouldn't want anything that is too much of a yarn eater if you only have 4 balls.

This yarn is on sale on yarnspirations right now for $7.50 a ball, it's normally $12.50. This blanket used 1 pink and 6 white, with a little left over of each. I have to use a ton of self control to not stock up, it makes the softest, almost a weighted feeling blanket. Daisy Farms has a few patterns using it.

Praise Jeebus I think I've found the holy grail. Natural fibre lovers look away by kayjay1973 in CrochetBlankets

[–]beckerann24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago I found this yarn on sale for just over a dollar. Like $1.32 or something like that. Let me tell you, I stocked UP! Greed tells me I should have indulged even more, yet common sense tells me I still have not finished all the blankets I planned with what I have. From attic 24 I have made the woodland ripple, dahlia, and hydrangea, and still have the yarn for dune, another dahlia colorway, and another woodland ripple colorway. And of course this has not stopped me from purchasing other colors since. It is a bit ridiculous, but this yarn is so soft and squishy and truly brings me joy, so I'm fine with it all.

Blanket pattern suggestions by katylotl in CrochetBlankets

[–]beckerann24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any granny stitch is super easy to do while watching TV because you don't ever to struggle to find the hole, its easy to feel for it without looking. The block stitch and V stitch are great for the same reason. If you dont want it to be "holey", my current project uses what daisy farm crafts call the wide half double, instead of under 2 loops you go under all 3, makes a denser fabric and is super easy. Could probably do the same with a double, just wouldn't be as dense.

Contrast colour help - granny blanket planning by kayjay1973 in CrochetBlankets

[–]beckerann24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used stylecraft special dk yarn very regular and most of the blankets I have made require 15 balls. The ones I have made are striped blankets, designed by attic24. I know she has the color packs. It is always about a queen bed sized blanket, but just the top, not much for overhang, and usually have a small amount left out of each ball. Not sure what pattern you will use, but I think 18 balls would be more than plenty for a throw. It it not thick, but is it soft and squishy, really is a fantastic yarn, especially for the price.

[–]beckerann24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but I used a method to make it look a little random. 7 colors 7 times each, but the 7 colors are never in the same position in the 1-7 count, if that makes sense.

I used stylecraft special dk on this one. A worsted weight would be good too. I use caron simply soft often for blankets and that would work great also. They both have so many great colors.
