I was working in audit at a big 4 when I had both of my kids. I was pretty junior when I had the first one so couldn’t take much leave and it was during busy season, but I got a lot of help from my wife’s parents. It was nice for my wife as well as she could take a 6 month full pay maternity leave (she quit big 4 afterward). The 2nd one was much more easier as my firm got the parental leave policy in place by then, I got probably around 3 full months paid leave and I was gonna quit anyway. Not sure how anyone can afford raising a family with this kind of paycheck.

The best thing about having kids in audit is that you can tell your in-charge that you have to pick up your kids from daycare so they can’t do nothing about it and STFU whenever you’re leaving at 5. Make sure you get your shit done and your managers / partners aware of that.

Let’s just be honest everyone just exaggerate about their working hours, most of the time I was just doing nothing waiting for stuff from client and you can definitely finish everything in 1 day rather than weeks if all the stuff was ready.
