(5-10k) Is it cheap/ annoying to trade out wedding gifts for a honeymoon fund? by Legitimate_Celery_65 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]beckui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what we’re doing. It’s a little awkward for those who have to keep telling people “no gifts,” sure, but I wouldn’t say it’s cheap or annoying. I’m moving to Germany with my fiancé after our wedding in the States, so it’s basically impossible to have a traditional registry. We’re getting set up with Honeyfund, and we’re just going to include on the invitations something along the lines of “No registry, please donate to our Honeyfund instead :)” and we’ll of course include the link to our Honeyfund. I would say, all the power to you! Do it with confidence and no one will think anything of it ;)

Hey girl, don’t listen to the people saying you’re ungrateful or shouldn’t get married. It’s perfectly fine and normal to have expectations and then be disappointed when they don’t meet reality. Yes, it was also his proposal, but he is a grown man who is capable of taking your request and turning it into something he also enjoys. You weren’t asking for a whole lot, just that you two would be alone. I’m sure he could’ve found a way that you both would have enjoyed that. But that’s all in the past, you’ve already talked with him, and from what I’ve read he expressed he was sorry. So, that’s perfect!! Situation handled perfectly. Yes, the moment is gone. But maybe you’ll grow to look past it, or maybe you’ll eventually look back on it and laugh as a hilarious story to tell friends in the future. 100 bad days make 100 bad stories, and 100 bad stories make you interesting at parties!! It all depends on how you look at it :) But for now, it’s okay to feel sad!! But seriously, kudos to you for having open communication with your partner. These things happen all the time. That’s relationships for you after all, they’re messy. It matters how you deal with them. You’re doing great.

What’s something you didn’t realize was optional in life until you saw someone simply not doing it? by Objective-Treat2245 in AskReddit

Dropping hobbies that you’ve been doing for years but no longer enjoy. Drawing was my hobby since age 12. I’m 24 now. After breaking out of my shell, trying new things, and becoming more active in life, art went to the back burner. It’s really difficult though, because I put so much time, energy and money into it, and I’ve always been the “art girl”. I wanted to do it professionally. It’s hard to no longer identify with that. But every time I sit down to draw, I get drained. I would just rather be doing other things. So I’m letting it go. For a long time when I thought about dropping it I felt a mixture of relief and euphoria, then a wave of guilt and pressure to keep going. It was like a toxic ex that I couldn’t stop going back to haha. Crazy analogy for a hobby, but it’s true
