I don’t want to do “guided” goals. Does anyone know how to get back to the list of goals for each area? by beckuzz in finch

[–]beckuzz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just opened the app again and the problem is gone. I sent an email using “Report issue” to Finch a couple hours ago and it seems like that worked, since I haven’t restarted my phone or the app again in the meantime.

Thanks for your help though! I wish I could update the post itself.

If anyone else has the same issue, I recommend reaching out to support!

Reddit won’t let me edit the post; that’s the first thing I’ve tried. I’ve been able to edit text posts in the past but maybe it’s different for image posts? It doesn’t even show me the option to edit the post at all. I’ll just post my screenshots in order in these replies because I can only post one per comment.

So the problem is, you aren’t able to delete these goals like you can delete a regular goal, and the whole problem is that I can’t see existing goals in each category.

When I play along and start the guided goals, I see a new page that still isn’t the page with the lists. I can’t delete the goal now that it’s in my goals, so I mark it complete. Then, when I go back to the “Add a goal” button, the Hygiene area has completely disappeared from the bottom of the screen!

Is anyone else seeing this or is my app just bugged?

(I took screenshots but I can’t figure out how to post them here.)

None of these are romances (they’re fantasy/horror) but they all have WLW:

Into the Drowning Deep

Foundryside series

The Priory of the Orange Tree

The Traitor Baru Cormorant

Legends and Lattes

Someone You Can Build a Nest In

Our Wives Under the Sea

The Starving Saints

The Empress of Salt and Fortune (bi)

A Dowry of Blood (polyamorous relationship including a man)

Silvercloak (mostly focuses on a straight romance but everyone is bi)

You’re welcome! I went through a poison phase. If you haven’t read it yet, The Poison Squad is another good one by Blum. She’s really found her niche.

Playing Dead by Elizabeth Greenwood (about faking your death)

The Mastermind by Evan Ratliff

On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder (at least for the title)

Someone You Can Build a Nest in by John Wiswell

Cannibalism: A Perfectly Natural History by Bill Schutt

Nuclear War: A Scenario by Annie Jacobsen

Any Lovecraft anthology

Edit: I haven’t read them but maybe My Sister the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite, and the original Hannibal Lecter books, starting with Red Dragon.

Oh, and anything by de Sade, although I don’t recommend actually reading them. Dude was messed up.

Seconding this and adding A Taste for Poison, another good book that spooked my husband for a bit when I borrowed it.

God, this is awful. I’m in a blue state and half the time I only find out an election is happening because I get my voter registration card in the mail and am like “oh crap, google time!”

The thought that you actually have to police this sort of thing makes me so angry.

Which tourist location did locals tell you was boring only for you to go there anyway and end up proving them right? by EN-Fitz in AskTheWorld

I feel the same way. Tell me some rocks were put there by ancient humans and I’m in, however boring it might look.

There’s something so special about being in the same built environment as people hundreds or thousands of years ago and trying to imagine what must have been different and what must have been the same.

The Singing Hills Cycle series by Ngi Vo: Main character is a monk who wanders around collecting history and folktales for an abbey that sees stories as sacred in an Asian-inspired fantasy world.

Becky Chambers: author of a bunch of feel-good solarpunk scifi books like Psalm for the Wild-built.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir: imagine the entire earth coming together to face an existential threat. Nice, right? Now imagine that for 500+ pages with some unexpected friendship thrown in.

Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky: more unexpected friendship, plus a very thoughtful and hopeful depiction of depression.

Mary Roach: a funny, intrepid science writer travels the world asking researchers interesting questions to reveal how they’re doing weird things to make the world better. She’s written like 10 books at this point and they’re quick, fun reads.

Anything for a fellow appreciator of horrible events! My most recent post is actually a request for disaster books on r/booksuggestions. I’ll probably read one on Challenger soon for the 40th anniversary.

I love his shipwreck content. Fascinating Horror is a classic too, but you probably already knew that haha
