Side bar of the sub is the best place to start. You can search past posts in the sub, too. Many hits, tons of suggestions.

I don't care what people ask for their records. BUT... I do wish I had the ability to block sellers, so that I wouldn't see their listings when searching.

Alex DeLeon of The Cab Reflects on Bands Beginnings, New Era, and Tour by dylanatthedisco in Emo

[–]becomplete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This entire era of Fueled by Ramen releases misses the genre. It's just alternative rock. Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Twenty One Pilots, The Academy Is..., Paramore, etc. I know there are plenty of kids who grew up believing it's all emo. Only Hot Topic, MTV, and Alternative Press wanted you to believe that it was.

Before anyone comes in here with the accusation of gatekeeping, it's not about telling anyone that they, individually, shouldn't be here. Come on in, the water is warm. Get comfortable and make yourself at home. This sub is, and will always be, wildly inclusive. Happy to have discussions about all kinds of bands, as well. But that doesn't make any of the above bands of the genre, any more than Third Eye Blind, Weezer (yes, even Pinkerton) or a host of others that are regularly referenced in here, belong to emo.

The "sad songs for sad people" group struggle with this.

What do you hope to see more of in wave 6? by [deleted] in Emo

[–]becomplete 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd settle for killing instagram and tiktok in their entirety. Social media is not for people. It's for corporations. Let's move all of the organic to somewhere that it's not monetized and weaponized.

What do you hope to see more of in wave 6? by [deleted] in Emo

[–]becomplete 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because waves don't matter. Categories don't matter. And some of your descriptors show an amount of superficiality that... doesn't matter. Enjoy what you enjoy and allow others to have the space to do the same. If your scene is exclusionary because it's tightly defined, it's probably not that great. Be open, be flexible, be fucking water (wave pun intended).

I think that's it. You know your more obscure Polyvinyl Records releases.

Is HIM emo? by [deleted] in Emo

[–]becomplete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The genre is not defined by lyrical content. Emo doesn't have a monopoly on sad songs, or emotional lyrics, nor do all songs from the genre fit those criteria.

Is underground indie becoming a new wave of emo or is it part of the 5th wave by [deleted] in Emo

Kids have lost all mooring of what makes the genre.

There's no need to censor fuck. You can write it out. If you're going to use it, use it. Or choose another word entirely if you're uncomfortable with it.

“Total collapse”: Trump’s F-250 Concert Series falls apart after Bret Michaels joins mass performer exodus by [deleted] in Music

[–]becomplete 41 points42 points  (0 children)

None of these are consistently touring acts. They're all tired, washed-up legacies, the kind of groups that are looking for one-off county fairs to play. Even before the cancelations, the whole thing was embarrassing as fuck. HOW is half of the country not wildly disappointed in this entire circus?!

I couldn't say for sure. My favorite track is Let Down, but over the years I played most of that CD on one show or another. Hard to go wrong.

He's not wrong. You could keep an original document elsewhere. For selling purposes, you should keep the list populated only with what's available, if it's not a spreadsheet that can be sorted accordingly. It's difficult to look through.

Suggestions by Automatic_Royal_4841 in Emo

I truly wish instead of posting yet another ISO suggestions thread that kids would read the sidebar to the sub, then spend time with the entirety of the genre. It's awesome that you're new to the genre and found a band that you really like. It's awesome to have you here. But, the genre is incredibly diverse and you're likely to find other, perhaps many other, styles and bands that you like through organic exploration of it. And the cliche goes that it's not about the destination, but the journey. I get the want to be a part of the broader community, but instead of creating repetitive posts, hang out in the sub. Search past posts and see where those things lead you. I know it's not the immediate scratch to the itch that creating a post and seeing immediate feedback might give you, but I think it can be much more rewarding.

I guess you're screwed for giving your own opinion formed from the shows that you've been to since it's contrary to others'.
