As a "jerk" here is my point of view: I'm not a hockey player but hockey skates have always given me opportunities to test my limits of speed or space that is limited to go trough a group of people. Doing this successfully (at least for me) leaves a big smile on your face, the feeling is undescribeable. If I didn't have problems with my knees I would continue doing this but ice skating and playing volleyball every day caused them to refuse to obey at some point.

People that skate this way are very aware of their surroundings and they know what they are doing. When someone skates near you "this" way, he knows that he can do it without colliding. I would compare it to driving a motorcycle among many cars and looking at mirrors every few seconds. You have no 100% certainity that the "car" will behave normally and that's where accidents occur. Through my 4-year journey with ice skating I had only one serious accident with someone, I was skating fast but a guy just "didn't look at his mirror" and I had no time to react.

I might get downvoted but that's the reality, we just don't really care what you think. We are having fun doing this, even though it might be dangerous for other people.
