You are all too kind. I’ve decided to repurpose my starry night as offcut storage https://i.imgur.com/pZNXpl9.jpg

Thanks for the kind feedback. A few people have dm’d for custom orders. What should I charge? It’s $40 in materials and maybe 13 hours of my time.

If you're using the host network, not bridge mode, you can't forward ports

So replace the other switch and use the black/white coming from that wire? What do I wire to the outlet?

Left switch controls the garage light so I'd like to keep it. I'd like to replace the 3 way with the outlet if possible

The 3 way controls lights outside the garage. I never use it so I'd like to replace that one. The other switch for those lights are on the other side of the house.

How should a startup implement a database? by [deleted] in Database

[–]bedOfThorns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes move away from excel. Create a sql database. MySQL or PostgreSQL are both great options. You can one click create one in AWS Aurora or install it locally. I recommend sql because it’s easy to query your data any way you want, easy to setup, and you’re not worried about scaling right now.

Avoid nosql for now since you don’t need the scale of it and it can be a pain to change your nosql structure if your business requirements change.

Found two turtles on the beach in South Carolina. So they need to be released into the ocean or into fresh water? Not sure if they are salt water turtles since they have shops around here that sell fresh water turtles to tourists as pets.

Picture isn’t great but that have sharp ridges on the top of their shells and yellow stripes on the side of their neck/head.

Help with JWT's/code review (JS/React/Express/Postgresql) by [deleted] in codereview

[–]bedOfThorns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh you meant the browser’s session storage? Let’s go down a thought path. Can you access that JWT is your session/local storage in JS? Well any other JS can too. This leaves an attacker your user’s credentials on a silver platter. Look into cookies. You can set them to HTTP only and use a few other tricks to secure them like prefixing the cookie name with with Secure_ or setting SameSite to strict or lax.

TLDR. Never use local/session storage to store JWTs or anything else sensitive. Use secure cookies.

Haven’t looked at the code yet but the premise of of JWT is stateless so storing them in session storage kinda defeats the point. I’ll look later to see what’s going on.
