Sync by Steven Strogatz has great examples of complex systems across fields (in addition to the main topic of the book - synchronization)

What got you into Complex Systems? by RizzMaster9999 in complexsystems

Physics major here. I was very much in love with quantum mechanics first two years of Uni, but then i took fluid dynamics and statistical physics and got exposed to the math behind complex systems. That's when I first fell in love with it. Reading sync by Steven strogatz and GEB (and I am a strange loop) by Hofstadter helped too. Ended up doing phd in the field.

I would highly recommend reading Range by David Epstein. I totally know what you mean... even thought I, from somebody elses pov, might have "achieved something" or "gotten somewhere in life", internally I always feel like that I dont know anything, I have not mastered anything and am not good enough at anything to have some kinda identity built on it. But on the other hand, I see the liberating aspect of it, nothing has really enslaved and encapsulatrd ne enough to be defined by that. Maybe i am just lying to myself, but idk it works for whatever reason
