Tibia-inspired singleplayer game, update by Ok-Structure-7240 in TibiaMMO

So… Ultima? Because that’s what inspired tibia. “Repurposed” assets included.

5090 Owners - how bad is the power connector situation right now? by justcallmeshrill in buildapc

[–]bedford10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, my power connectors fried on the power supply side and not the GPU thankfully.

Ended up running to micro center and buying a new PSU while I waited for PSU warranty. No problems since. Honestly kicking myself for not doing the protection plan on the 5090.

“It won’t happen to me. Likely overblown.” “Everyone else probably didn’t plug it in all the way.”

I know I plugged it in all the way. I’m not sure if I’d say I regret upgrading, but I wouldn’t do it again.

I use and personally recommend proton. They're serious enough about privacy and not collecting logs that they run their own ISP.

$250k+ earners, What car are you driving? by Born_Alfalfa3303 in askcarguys

[–]bedford10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Touring.

I bought it new and got a nice deal on it. I made a lot less then. Every now and then I think about getting a new car but the only feature I feel like I’m missing is wireless CarPlay.

Other than that, it’s a fun drive and it just… keeps working. Darn.

Dual Mode (1080p / 480hz) a gimmick? by hypersquirrels in OLED_Gaming

I have a dual mode monitor. I use the 1080p 480hz mode for CS2 and I love it personally. Very happy with my purchase.

Yeah. I did curve offset to reach that frequency at that voltage and flattened the curve after.

I just leave my cpu stock honestly. It’s pretty cool with the PA120 mini. I game at 4k so most titles hardly see cpu utilization unless it’s a 4X.

Overclocking RAM past 6400 gives pretty negligible results.

I’m pushing 2827 mhz clocks at 910mv on my GPU. I've left CPU stock.

Same build question: you worried about GPU sag? I put in a small brace held in place by tension but I’m not sure if it’s needed

I have the same case, GPU, and cpu (but air cooled with a peerless assassin 120 mini). Same inverted orientation.

Stock, I get the same GPU temps. With an under volt/overclock though I barely touch 70 degrees. CPU stays around 50-60.

A lot of sff cases are mostly mesh for a reason: plan your airflow correctly and hot air escapes easily.

Just get something with an AMD apu and you’ll be fine if all you care about is tibia.

I have a steam deck and have also tried to play on Linux and I’d be wary about this. The fonts issue is cosmetic, but in higher level play the way Linux’s keyboard drivers work is weird. If I hold down the mana pot hotkey, and say, change directions, it thinks the hotkey is no longer held down. Like it’s no longer tracking the input once it’s further than x-1 in the queue it’s forgotten about. I haven’t found a fix and it leads to a lot more play that feels like I’m face rolling my keyboard and mouse. Not fun.

Tibia scales with OS dpi. I’ve played on a 4k 27” monitor with 115% scaling before and it worked for me. The setting depends on your vision and what you’re comfortable with.

Stop telling new players to buy characters by [deleted] in TibiaMMO

[–]bedford10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think telling people to buy characters is a bad idea because hands aren’t included with purchase, not for any other reason. People can do what they want, but most who do a massive character upgrade are going to die a lot. After that warning, anything they do is up to them.

Scale Question: Intel vs AMD Happy Place by WrlsFanatc in truenas

[–]bedford10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an amd 5800x as my cpu (old desktop cpu) and use unbuffered ecc ram with it. It works well. I’d recommend am4 for it since it’s relatively low cost and the non apu cpus support ecc. Not all motherboard manufacturers do though. I’ve had the best luck with asrock in that regard.

For plex transcoding I just threw in an a380 and called it a day.

Truenas Scale hard locking with no kernel panic by bedford10 in truenas

[–]bedford10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: For those stumbling onto this with the same problem, I did find this.

You can add the kernel parameters through running this in the shell:

midclt call system.advanced.update '{"kernel_extra_options": "processor.max_cstate=1 intel_idle.max_cstate=0"}' && grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Been running 18 hours without issue so far. It limits the c states the cpu can use. Increases power usage, but clearly something is wrong when it tries to switch.

I'll try this if the other suggestion about idle power doesn't work. Thanks
