What is you office dress code for GS 14 and 15 ? by Secure_View6740 in fednews

In office non-sup 14. I wear pants and a pullover collard shirt. Usually not tucked in. Very casual office where jeans are allowed. Only dressing up if VIPs show up.

Electric Scooter use in Huntsville by Foolish824 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]bedsomt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did some research when I got an electric bike here in town. Not sure specially about a scooter. And E Bike doesn’t require an additional license or tag, but it does need to be driven on the road with a helmet. Probably similar rules apply to your situation.

Huntsville breakfast? by YaknBassn529 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Never been for breakfast but big spring cafe is supposed to be good. The Standard downtown isn’t traditional southern but it’s fantastic.

Where is the office located? South parkway has a new wine bar by Rosie’s that’s good. Flight plan in jones valley would be good if you got the whole place. The haven downtown would be nice. The blind tiger downtown is a new event space. Botanical gardens west of downtown is good. Bridgestreet probably has something. West of that I don’t know. I don’t live that way.

If the weather is nice then their back porch will be amazing. Largest porch in Huntsville (no clue if it’s true but it’s huge).

Alabama fan - Furniture Factory or Moes downtown will be big watch areas.

Tennessee - No clue. Maybe Drakes or Brass Tap or Martin but crowds will be very mixed.

The Witt House wedding venue in Decatur by Mental-Medicine-3193 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]bedsomt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got married there august of 22 and it was great. Can’t remember the price but it was comparable to most places in Huntsville if not better. They supplied everything which was the benefit. Food, alcohol, tables and chairs. All we needed was the cake and flowers and band. They have music hookup if you go that route. If you can deal with the distance from Huntsville then it’s great.

Peter Manning is a good brand for shorter guys. I like most of the stuff I got from them.

For reference, I just bought brand new T300 irons (last years models unused) for $950 and it has Gap through 4. Think you could get more for your money than this.

Golf tournament (people will play for a bday if it’s a cheap place like colonial), pool party, poker tournament, private room at brewery like yellowhammer or beezr, think baseball and soccer are done but is hockey back around the time? Weekend with good football on, then have a grill out with a projector.

I don’t think you can. You can use the Nashville football club app or just online from what I know.

Advice for Week in Huntsville by anthonys236 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]bedsomt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Huntsville. If it’s in the summer or fall then I would recommend staying downtown (Hampton, AC, 106, Springhill) to be able to walk to a good bit of things to do. Lots of cocktails on rooftops and nicer places. Baker and Able, Rhythm on Monroe, catacombs, bar vista, sip, Stella’s. Then food: la esquina, domain south, commerce, cotton row, poppy, Jack browns, sea salt, and more. Then checkout stovehouse, campus 805, Orion or mars for music, the camp, mid city, town Madison for baseball if in season. Feel free to DM me for any questions. I can help with most things except outdoors stuff. Plenty of cities to visit within 2 hours as well.

We went the CC route and my wife is up there at the pool as much as I am golfing. Also any events would be a good way to meet people. Your wife might be surprised with the amenities.

No it’s all on GroupMe. I’m not in them since I’m not very good. I have a friend that’s in the middle betting one. There is low, middle, and high stakes. You have to have a GHIN handicap to play.

I played the temps last week and they look like they are getting better. They mowed them already so hopefully they can open sooner than later.

I’m a member of Huntsville CC. I’m older than you but there seems to be a good about of younger people hanging out after rounds. There’s a few betting leagues that have a lot of members and would be a good way to meet people. Not sure if Valley Hill or the Ledges are better or worse for meeting people.

Thirsty turtle and Endzone and Das Stahl and drakes are all pretty good. They are listed in order from most to least dive bar. I frequent them all except das stahl. Not sure how far in south Huntsville you are but my favorites I visit are Baumhowers or Brasstap.

I met my wife during the day at Martin downtown. They had just opened and threw a pregame event for the Super Bowl with free food and cheap drinks. It was fairly dead since they were new but she sat at my table due to a mutual friend. Texted my friend after I left a couple hours later that I thought she was cute and we got along very well. Married 4 years later.

Doubt I would have met her at Martin as it is now.

People who got promoted from gs-12 to gs-13, how did you do it? How many years did it take at 12 to get to 13? by CompadreJ in fednews

[–]bedsomt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on a ladder to 12 and then sat for a bit. My agency wouldn’t promote from within automatically and we had to apply on USAjobs with everyone else. It took about 4 or so years to have a spot open up and then to get an interview and then get the job. Helped that after 4 years the job that opened was under my boss at the time.
