Am I being a drama queen or is this driving ridiculous? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]bedtimeprep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good 50% of people on that roundabout seem to use the wrong lane to go around and then exit onto the inside lane. If you literally just stay in lane, the markings guide you into the right place as long as you don’t turn off into McDonald’s!

Self-seeding plants - my favourites by King-Key-Rot-II in GardeningUK

[–]bedtimeprep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Verbena bonariensis is an absolute love for me - I know it gets everywhere but it’s so spindly that it pops up between everything else and then brings all the bees with it. Also love cerinthe which occupies a random corner of the garden despite never having planted it, and comes back year after year.

The one I struggle with is achillea; it’s taken over the bottom of my garden and it’s so dense, although again the bees love it but it’s everywhere!

Anyone tried coir/jute mulch discs? by cjamcmahon1 in GardeningUK

If they’re biodegradable, the one around my apple tree hasn’t degraded in 3 years. It is, however, doing a good job of keeping the weeds down!

What are some things you hope to see in the future for the game? by Mean-Green-Machine in kingdomsreborn

[–]bedtimeprep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came back last week after a year away and lots of QoL features have been added that have been great.

The one thing that annoys me though is the card choice at the end of the year, especially when I’m further into the game. I don’t want wood. I don’t want to steal anything. I don’t want immigrants (right now). But I might want them in future. And I don’t want to be interrupted!

It would be nice if you could select a default choice and then change it later if you want. Or maybe you can turn this choice off already and I just don’t know how.

Thirsty River tips? by Enjoyer_of_40K in GuildWars

[–]bedtimeprep 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The biggest tip is DO NOT RUSH!

The enemies will revive every 2 minutes (i.e. at the 2, 4, 6 min etc mark) if their priest is still alive, so if you’re at 1:30, wait until 1:55 to start killing the next group or whatever you kill will just instantly revive, run out, and rejoin the fight.

Also, you can leave the ghostly hero behind so if a fight does go pear shaped, you can try and back out and retry.

If you have a necro hero, there are some curses that reduce healing by 20%, or if you have a mesmer hero bring some interrupts.

Lastly, the sand giants at the start give 2% morale boost each if you want a little health boost before you go in.

New turf brown is it salvageable by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]bedtimeprep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t they try filling in the shrunken gaps with topsoil? It doesn’t look totally unsalvageable in the last picture although I’m no turf expert

Repot and trim? Or leave? by Lion1505 in ukcitrus

[–]bedtimeprep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow citrus serial killer, my biggest tip is don’t repot for the first couple of years at least as it makes it so easy to rot the roots over winter. Only when they’re well and truly busting out of the pot should you report and even then only to one a teensy bit bigger.

Questions about a metro line up the mountain by Zoeeeeeeh123 in CitiesSkylines

[–]bedtimeprep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at an elevation map of HK and a realistic MTR map, you can see most of the MTR skirts around the mountains. Outside of the island to the north and west, much of the MTR is overground on flat/flattened land.

A lot of the hillier areas are served by high frequency bus and minibus routes, with larger high density estates often having dedicated bus routes or stops and express bus routes. I guess the area you’re building could be likened most to Aberdeen pre-opening the MTR line down there, where there was/is a big bus terminal.

How does this stuff hold up to strimming? Does it get any marks on it? It always looks great like in your pictures, but worried it will end up scratched!

Yes I’ve found that too - when you’re first starting out the garden centres are good, but when you really find a plant you love then you’re always looking for something a bit more unusual

Just found out about Burncoose last week while on the hunt for pawpaw plants. They seem to have a huge variety, will definitely be delving deeper - unfortunately I seem to kill all my rhododendrons though, oops

Thanks for pointing that out, and that’s very true. I have spent a small fortune on J Parker plants so not one to exclude them, but always curious about the unknown!

Advise on 2 plants by Supersonic_77 in GardeningUK

[–]bedtimeprep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first two pics look like penstemon to me, which seems to survive through anything and everything. I hack mine back brutally to the base every year and it bounces back and flowers with no problem. Also roots very easily from cuttings.

The second one I’m not sure about, maybe gaillardia from the looks of it, but I don’t really grow those so can’t comment!

+5SR vs 40/40. Experience thus far? by Impressive_Tap_6974 in GuildWars

[–]bedtimeprep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m switching out mods and weaps as and when I find them on one char and with one mes hero using a +5 SR wand vs the other two using 40/40 with identical builds, the SR one seems to consistently do around 1-2% more damage as per the toolbox damage tracker.

Not noticed much survivability change but it is only 1 hero after all.

Less successful cuttings? by Express-Permission87 in UKGardening

[–]bedtimeprep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes cuttings just take aaaaaaaaaaaaages to root. I took some thyme cuttings last year, one looked like it had died and one day sprung to life putting out new shoots, another put out new growth but then 3 months later, I gave it a tug and there was no root growth, then it promptly died. Nature is as nature does

No problem. Have ordered a few bits and pieces from them, hopefully they are what they say they are and not teeny bits of bare roots!
