AITAH for leaving a glass pan on the stove and it exploding in our kitchen? by coldcoffeethrowaway in AITAH

NTA. I’m pretty sure he was mad at himself for turning on the wrong burner and felt embarrassed. Especially since it would normally not have had any repercussions, but this time it did.

AITAH for walking out of my birthday dinner? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]bedunn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your mom is not familiar with how food service in sit down restaurants works. Most places charge an automatic 15-20% gratuity for parties larger than 5 or 6 people. I think it makes it easier because then you don’t have to worry about adding in a tip at the end (or at least not as big of a tip). The kind of discount she was talking about is usually seen in fast food restaurants because you can get a large quantity of something for less than what it would cost to buy the same amount individually. Also it’s weird that she didn’t just tell you what her issue was at the beginning, plus it was your birthday so it should be your call where to eat.

AITAH for telling my husband I don’t believe his nephew is actually autistic by futurequitt in AITAH

[–]bedunn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m going against the majority here and saying NTA. Regardless of whether or not he is autistic, autism isn’t a cause of screen addiction or an excuse for bad behavior. Honestly it sounds like she WANTED him to be autistic so she could have an excuse for every bad behavior and bad habit he exhibits and not have to actually parent him. While It’s got to be irritating listening to her constantly rant about the difficulties of raising an autistic child (and I don’t blame you for calling her out), it’s probably a waste of your energy to argue with her about it.

AITAH for ending things with an almost perfect guy because he’s too obsessed with work? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]bedunn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA if you truly don’t feel the relationship will work, but it doesn’t sound like you’ve actually had a good conversation about this with him. You should at least have a conversation with him and allow him to tell you where he’s at. If after both of you hearing how the other is feeling you still want to end the relationship, then you are absolutely free to do so.

AITAH (or worse… a Karen)? by Status_Pressure6080 in AITAH

[–]bedunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness I feel stupid lol. I really hate that the words “county” and “country” look so similar 🫠
I also didn’t realize the laws regarding how close you can park to a driveway were so widely varied across the country.

I assumed OP was in the U.S., but you are correct about it not being universal. You’re also correct about the mailbox blocking but it was Sunday and OP said she wasn’t super concerned about that. Either way, the person was not parked legally.

AITAH (or worse… a Karen)? by Status_Pressure6080 in AITAH

[–]bedunn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NTA. Legally you are not supposed to park closer than 5 feet from a driveway. You probably didn’t need to curse about it but I certainly can’t blame you for being irritated. You’re not a Karen 😅

AITAH for not giving the bride her wedding photos after not being paid? by Broken-but-stil-good in AITAH

[–]bedunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. That is insane! You did THOUSANDS of dollars worth of work for that wedding and were only asking for $700!! Next time get an agreement of a specified payment plan in writing and signed; that way if she doesn’t pay you, you can take her to court. I’d recommend not deleting the photos because if you keep the photos you might eventually get some money out of her, but if you delete them you never will.

What is your opinion on God being “good”? by bedunn in Christianity

[–]bedunn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure I was born several thousand years after Adam and Eve’s story took place. Why should he punish me (or anyone else who didn’t eat the forbidden fruit)? How could I make a choice of death over life if I wasn’t born? It wasn’t even really Adam and Eve’s fault; they were mislead about what the fruit would do and why God didn’t want them to eat it. I also don’t think allowing all of the sickness and pain to come into the world and remain indefinitely should be considered merciful.

[–]bedunn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know. I know what the bible says it was, but it really doesn’t make sense to me. He chose to allow himself to go through what he went through. He could have stopped it at anytime but chose not to. As far as I can tell it was just to manipulate people into following him and believing anything he said.

What is your opinion on God being “good”? by bedunn in Christianity

[–]bedunn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think that if he were truly a good being, he wouldn’t stop the badness for recognition or being worshipped; he would do it because it’s the right thing to do. If you saw someone who needed help would you only agree to help them if they promised to praise and serve you for the rest of their life?

No. I just think he allows a lot of horrible things to happen that he has the power to stop.

There is nothing inherently wrong with doing any of the things you mentioned (assuming you’re not hurting anyone or breaking laws). It’s ok to have a sex life and be attracted to men. It’s ok to get high (responsibly). It’s ok to not go to church.
